It helps Musharraf - hers was a one person party (The PPP) - without her it will basicly dwindle away...

Pakistan is about to go right down the shitter. This is about the worst thing that could've happened for Pakistan at the moment. She was a thief, but she was also extremely popular, and was viewed by many as the next step after Musharaf.

She was extremely well-liked by community leaders, and they do not like being treated stupid.

Can't say I'm suprised - she said several times she was expecting attempts or the real thing. The whole situation stinks, it's a country in turmoil and has been for years and probably will be for many years to come. It doesn't help with half the country being in collaboration with the folks that are trying to blow everyone else up a little further west from themselves.
Being quite honest, I sort of agree with Raven - I can't see much of a way forward without forcing them to "start from scratch" and perhaps a warning shot or two where it hurts might make them listen. But it's hardly made the fuckwits in Iraq/Afghan listen, so probably not.
I keep seeing images of that lot burning effigies and british/american flags - I keep having an urge to wipe my arse with the Koran on video and publicise it as much as possible. Of course it's not entirely responsible, but religion as a whole is and I'm just fucking fed up with it and the morons trying to say what they're doing is acceptable because some higher being says so.

Unlucky, I couldn't give a toss if some primitive back water country blows itself to shit, at least if they do I don't have to put up with it on the news for longer than is absolutely necessary. In reality it will spread across the region and we will have yet more hassle from countries that can't look after themselves to deal with.

Though if they don't have anything worth having they will just burn them selves out within 20 years or so. America won't give a shit if they don't have oil reserves therefore it will just be a catalyst for random hard done by people to spread more hate around the place, blaming everyone except there stupid primitive way of life and beliefs.

well, no, you dont have to care. thats your prerogative. it is, however, not "primitive" or "backwater", and having been part of the british empire and raj for a long time, we as a nation are largely responsible for the state its in.

as for the americans, they do what they want, but it doesnt have to dictate what everyone else does, its just got to that point, UN cant get involved cos afaik, they are stretched too thin and cant afford it atm.

She was also President of the Oxford Union, which makes me pretty dubious of her character - the majority of Oxford Union hacks are conniving muppets.

But she was pro-democracy in a troubled country and was standing up to a lot of people and a lot of threats.. this is going to cause big problems and turmoil, but we can only hope it will galvanize the country to the idea that something really must be done and things must change for the better.. ;S

Am not going to comment on the argument of whether or not we should be helping/interfering in other country's political troubles.. but I think when issues of terrorism are concerned and the stability of a nuclear power, its important that we consider what we do pretty carefully.
