Hey, I was wondering if anyone had any idea why the following things happen to me!

Basically, when I open a new browser it takes way to long than it should (I have broadband) I get that resolving host forums.freddyshouse.com thing on bottom, that takes like 10 seconds. My computer is part of a network, with my dads pc. When I used to go on the other pc (before it became part of a network) it was super fast. Is there any way I can speed it up?

The other problem is, when I use DC (Direct Connect) I have trouble getting files lists. It says connecting, then nothing happens, or I get timed out. The same problem occurs when I (try) to download from people.

Any help is appreciated.

Is anyone on your network running and file sharing apps with no cap on the upload?
I used to get the same error when my housemate was running edonkey, kazaa, and DC all at the same time, using 100% of our UL speed, hence buggering me when I tried to do anything.

Otherwise, make sure no proxy is configured.

From your description it seems you have either got a network problem between the machines, or badly configured DNS on the slow machine.

A bit more info on the network setup will help us understand...

Is the download performance OK once a site has been resolved?

Is one of the machines your internet gateway (and thus running ICS), or are they both connected to a separate gateway box (eg: ADSL router)?

The router has prolly gone to sleep (takes a while to warm up again)...check your router settings for an inactivity checkbox...(what kind of router do you have?...do I smell a netgear ?)
