if you do have to reinstall you only need the daoc.exe login.dat and update.dat, you can DL the entire game from the update server.

Though if you heard a clang from the HD it sounds as though you may well end up having to replace that.

At a guess an hd cluster is broken and it is the one where resides your daoc installation -.- a checkdisk and defrag SHOULD solve your problem.

Regarding to experiences I have with HDD's with weird "clang", "cling", "bing", "bang" or similar sounds, it has always been sign for me to do immediate, last additional backups. Everytime I've heard those kind of noises HDD got broken within 1week-2months.

I think u should now take what are necessary for u in your HDD (your digicam pics, docs, porns, etc) and back em up. Then try scandisk, defrag, etc.

Like everyone else is saying, Make Backups right away, if u lose that drive u lose more than a daoc install.
