I've ordered Final fantasy 3, meant to be really good if you like rpg's.
The resident evil remake is meant to be good too if your a fan of the series.
Starfox command is also good (although quite short).
I haven't played it but people say Pokemon D/P is great for the DS (200hours+ to complete if you wanna catch'em all.)
Oh yeah super mario 64 DS!
Trauma centre (if you haven't got it for the wii, don't think theres any point in getting both as they are practically the same.)
Animal crossing :wild world is also meant to be great (although looks quite childish)
Do you have wifi? Will give you a game on mario kart if you want

Haha It's gonna be delivered on Wednesday so I'll need some practice before challenging anyone!
Yeah I heard Final Fantasy are releasing all their games on the DS, I guess they'll stagger the release dates.

edit: to elaborate on the whole pokemon pearl thing, the only reason its childish is becuase of the manga rep it got. if you delve beneath the surface its a very tactical fun RPG, and if you dig even further there are some very very complicated and intense training systems like, Effort Values, Individual Values, Natures, Egg Moves, Egg hatching, Breeding groups. bollocks if a 10 year old can get the max out of the game.
but also if you want to have all of em, get pokemon/ruby/sapphire/emerald for the gba as well. lets you import pokemon caught in those games.
