Redundancy money was all earmarked for living expenses, home improvements (thx Mrs Wij :/) and partial mortgage pay-off.

But this has me feeling naughty:

Asus Eee Pad Transformer ? reghardware

Wonder if you can dual-boot it with a real Linux too ?

Shame it doesn't have built in 3G otherwise I'd be second in the queue to purchase I think.

The wife's Galaxy S has tethering on it. My next phone will too I'm sure.

How does that help me, unless you're giving me your wife and her phone?

I did order a Xoom 3g from carphonewhorehouse, but this is tempting me to cancel it and get one of these with a dock. The only problem is the software support and the not great Asus build quality.

Asus build quality is a pot luck job imho. My netbook is solid and has been since I got it. Other stuff has had to be swapped but the replacements were fine.

That said I would pick this over the Xoom tbh.

The only thing minding me to not cancel the Xoom is that it's a Google experience device, so will get regular software updates direct from Google and no crappy ui add-ons.

Yeah. I'm about to cancel it and get the asus. I've heard that basically all Honeycomb devices are Google experience devices. Plus you can switch the asus ui elements off.

Besides, I'm a child of the 80's, anything with transfomer in the name is inherently cool!
