I like my current job, always keeps me challenged. I'm not a fan of the pay or the hours. Gonna give it another year or so and if neither improves, then it's time to look elsewhere.
I have days when I love what I do and days when I wish I had chosen to do something else - although what I'd do is unclear. I guess I would love to run my own cafe - maybe with a couple of pc's on the side for internet stuffs but if I'm being honest I don't think I'd be a succesful businesman.
Last year, just before Christmas, I had to interview a team of technicians and we made 3 of the 7 interviewed redundant. I decided then to give the college another year and see if I could bring myself around to the new direction that it's taken and I can't.
I'm still giving it the best I can to cover the college but it's just a job now. It doesn't give me the buzz that it used too. I've got an interview lined up in a week for another post at a different college. I'm hoping that I'm successful and they have a different and more energetic ethos.
I want to go back to the time when we'd walk in and the student came first and our services were focussed on them and them alone. I'm lucky, I've done loads in the last 9 years but it's time for a change so I'm hoping that whether I'm successful or not in interview in a week's time that this prompts me to move on. I want a new job with bigger challenges and a more proactive and perhaps better focused senior management team. We'll see I guess.
had soem good days lately. come up against some complex cases and helped people reach a solution. it is a great feeling to have helped someone and them be genuinely greatful for it.
