Correct - if you refuse a number of interview, your benefit stops.

my benefits are contribution-based - i.e. on what national insurance i've paid...

i.e. i've paid money out of my pocket when i had a job, to subsidise myself or other ppl when i/they are out of work....
it's my god given right not to take just any old shit job i'm offered...

1) New Deal only applies to those people who have been out of work for 18 months out of the previous 21. I've only been out of work since the 1st of April.

2) I'm currently doing an access Diploma two nights per week (Tuesdays and Wednesdays) for 2 years, which will gain me access to University to do my joint Honours Degrees in Psychology and Philosophy.

Following that I go on to do either a Masters Degree in Psychology, or a Ph.D in either Criminological Psychology or Forensic Psychology.


Edit: And I'm on Contribution based as well, although I'll have to pop down sometime soon to change to income based, as contribution based only lasts for 6 months.

Sorry, Its not an attack on you or anything, but the reason it was introduced was to stop all those people who would just leave school and sit at home all day and make no effort to get work. I thinks it the same with signing on being changed to having to do it weekly so that it was a deterent for the lazy goits having to go down there early in the morning

went for an interview today; huntingdon fusion technology. sales and marketing company for what appears to be plumbing supplies and equipment.

job advertised;
computer assistant.

job description via phone and from jobcentre;
sounded like sysadmin.

job description as of the interview;
fucking office admin & some desktop publishing! it's a fucking mac shop! not even osX!

me unamused.

pay is ridiculously low. and i mean circa 6k per annum LOW.

fuckin' jobcentre and the things they make me do. (yes i know they didn't MAKE me do it, but the threat is there if i don't do it... anyway.

off to get my iPod 20gig

I find this thread somewhat disturbing. You are all reasonably intelligent ppl. Ie not pondlife. Yet are limited to jobs around 6-10k, or a life on the dole, given the amount of MONKIES i've met in the it industry earning 30k+. An example, If you are an internet security consultant (working for a top5 consultancy) earning 75k a year you shouldnt be asking questions like "what should I set the nt eventlog size to be".
