As far as I know the clothing discipline in UK is way more strict then say like Sweden, and I guess that Finland pretty similar to Sweden. My brother works a lot in the UK and at first he got chocked about how everybody were dressed in suits while in Sweden hardly anyone dress like that, way more casual all over in Sweden.

Aaah. This explains it.

Yeah, in finland you don't really need to "dress up"(x-dressing pun?) for anything but a management job of some sort.

First of all, i came 5 minutes late as i couldn´t find the entrance. As there was no signs, well, only a small small smallll letter on a doorbell with the name of the company whic i didn´t notice at first.

Then i stalled at some questions like: Can you explain who you are? (whic i should have prepared better) and What do you expect from our company?

Still, i had a nice black jacket and black jeans with a white shirt to go with the jacket. Well, my hair is a bit so so, im saving shoulder lenght

Anyways, im not that sad, as there were like 5 - 6 interviews that afternoon and only one of us got the job.

My advice don`t ever go for a job interview without first seeing a full job spec. If they can`t send you one before the interview they`re very poorly prepared and it`s unlikely you'll get either a fair or good interview. Interviews work both ways it`s not just so they can see if they want you it`s the other way around thats just as important.

Oh and tell the truth, if the interviewer knows what they`re doing it`s easy to catch people out and you'll sound much better pointing out your areas of weakness and then pointing out how you intend to overcome them once you get the job. ^^

Also always ask if the interviewer has any reservations about you, ie what issues can they see that would effect their decision to offer you the job. Overcome each objection in turn and finally ask for information on the next stage of interviews pointing out how much you enjoyed the interview and how it has reaffirmed your desire to work for this company over all others.

If you want a job do that stuff and dress smartly and well you can`t really go wrong.

If its really 3 or 4 months later chances are they recruited someone that wasn't right (or he pulled out / got sacked)

Dress smart - make an effort, it shows if you don't.

Answer the questions truthfully, if you don't know the answer say so but explain how you would find out, or what you would do in that situation - employers will not expect you to know everything.

With regards to this, and someone probably beat me to it, here is a perfect example;

Employer - So Young TIMMY!!!! do you know much about Outlook?
Timmy - No

Employer - So Young STEVIE!!!! do you know much about Outlook?
Stevie - Unfortunately not, but im a fast learner and i'd be more than willing to take any courses you may have on this.


Ok its cheesy and you can put it in your own words, but it shows the employer you are willing to broaden your knowledge and show initiative.

Bernard - No, but i've got your family in my basement and im gonna poo on them if i dont get this job...

Should have seen the interviewer, i´d handle his job 10 times better. He was just like a robot. He later asked if he could keep my CV if they were hiring in the future which they probably would.

But, i came unprepared, whic ultimately led to my downfall. But, i´ll throw some cliché expressions at them next time, i bet they like some witty comment like: Im a good citizen, i pay my taxes and i try to contribute to the community the best i can *makes a ridiculously big smile*

Or, i´ll just outwit him, making him confused. Then make the ultimate punchline. Just have to train on someone.
