I have often heard about people's computers blowing up, and always thought...hmmm how the hell does that happen.

Recently I heard Mallus talking about how his PC went bang bang

Anyway....you guessed it, My PC blew up Monday morning

I worked it out to having been the power supply, that exploded, so I made some enquiries, and it seems that the power supply that my comp uses is a very rare one (DOH).

3-4 Weeks ordering time ffs

I might try going upto London in a few days time to see if I can get the part there, so we are looking at a downtime of a few days or a few weeks :/

btw :puke: PCWORLD

Mm, the rarest powersuppli i know if is for Ibm compurter, they damn exspensive too. But if your machiene is damn old and upgraded then i can see there will be a problem. but still can be that old when you play daoc on it :/

If you tell me what your motherboard and powersuppli that was in your machience i might be albe to help you. i work with computers on daile basis.

Unless you have some old computer, its easy to get a new powersupply. Might not be the same manufacturer, but hey who cares about that?

Let us know what motherboard, processor and old power supply u have and maybe someone can suggest a replacement for u

I'm on my "Dads" Laptop again ;)

Well I managed to remove, the power supply from my computer, so many dam wires in the way :p

Heres the details I could find on it

Bestec
Model NO.:ATX-1523F

and it was in my Hewlett Packard Model:7891 AMD Athlon 1.2 ghz

PC World said that they could order the part and it would take 3-4 weeks like I said earlier, they said it would be 75 quid instalation charge + the price of the part needed (about 50 quid).
So they are charging like 130quid for something which is 50, and is easy to put in yourself....

So basically I dont mind paying the money for the actual power supply, but 75 quid for installation is toooo much

They said that they could only order the part needed, if they were to install it...bastards! ;)

Thanks for the help

Hewlett packard = outch :p

Those computer packages sux, impossible to upgrade or do anything with em. Best is to build it you're self, it's really easy ;)

BTW, doesn't really matter what kinds of power supply it was, just buy some of the cheapest you can find on company in you're country's webpage. If you're from Norway I know lotsa nice places to order hehe :D
