McNab's possibly the worst author ever. Unless he's reciting "things he's done", in which case he's quite funny.
Don't know about the other bloke though... I'd put my vote in for the oldskool of writers. Nothing more recent than the 80's.

Began reading Deaver's The Empty Chair this morning actually, as my fiancée is a big Lincoln Rhyme fan, and has all of his Rhyme books.
Seems to be a decent read thus far.
