Hmm, I'm beginning to suspect I might have an obsession with Japanese popmusic. And it's not just because I think the girls (I prefer girls performing :p) are uber-cute, but I think the music is usually pretty non-western-like. It's something new and refreshing imo.

Examples:

Morning Musume: Hyokkori Hyoutanjima

Tommy February6: Bloomin'

So Yu Jin: Para Para Queen (ok, this is K-pop (Korea) but wth :) )

ZYX Shiroi Tokyo

Utada Hikaru: Keep Tryin' (One of the most popular Japanese popstars.)

Odoru11: Shiawase Kyoryu Ondo !!!

Hope you like some of this. :D

Are two from ZYX also in Berryz Koubou? ahah yes - Saki Shimizu and Momoko Tsugunaga (the one with the very distinctive/incredibly cute voice)
I should have known they were another Hello!Project band ;)
Utada Hikaru did the song for Kingdom Hearts (Simple and Clean - the japanese song was Hikaru) btw. I ruv her :p
Morning Musume are absolutely brilliant :D I love "Ayaka's Surprise English Lessons"! Yossui, Nozo and Aibon are the coolest :D

From Wikipedia

"They remain the most successful Swedish music act"

"Their lasting legacy is the legitimisation of the Swedish music industry as a mainstream player."

They are swedish :p

About Abba being Swedish: I think Annifrid Lyngstad is either part or all Norwegian.

And it's true that there's come a lot of good music from Sweden, maybe more that most other countries, when you take the number of inhabitants into account.
But then that's from a western point of view.

How do we know that there aren't lots and lots of good music from the eastern hemisphere? We're pretty much as two different worlds I think, at least when it comes to Japan.
From what little I know I think they aren't that interested in western culture, maybe as little as we're interested in theirs..?

Is it just me or are all these popstars really young?

Either Oysterboy has a penchant for the younger artists or do the Japanese kill off their popstars before they hit 20?

They retire early. Once you reach 20 in Japan you have to get married to some bloke in suit who works 100 hours a week so you can live in a 6ft x 6ft box.

Going to Tokyo, Japan later this year. Really looking forward to seeing what the community is like over there. :) Gotta love working at an airport so I get business class tickets for like 100 pounds xD
