There was definitely elements of racism by Jade, Danielle, and Jo, but I think the media have massively blown it out of all proportion. No surprise there. More C4 publicity. People phone into complain. More cash for C4.

From a greed perspective, C4 definitely boxed clever putting Jade in with Shilpa.

But I gotta say that Jade, Danielle, and Jo are deeply unpleasant people.

Jade is a severely messed up girl. The thing that has annoyed me most though is the way this has highlighted once again the way people jump on the racism bandwagon. I've worked with racist offenders and said from the first time this kicked off it wasn't about racism. Racism is when people abuse or treat people differently because of their race. This wasn't about that. Jade's issue with Shilpa was because of jealousy, her own emotional turmoil (particularly after her mom was evicted) and completely different life experiences. She then used Shilpas race as part of the stick to beat her with. Both Shilpa and Jade have since acknowledged that. If Shilpa had been fat and from Birmingham then that is what would have been used. As it was, it was all very unpleasant, but it wasn't racism. The sooner people start to understand how racism really works, as opposed to stupid knee-jerk reactions to comments made in anger, the sooner we'd actually get anywhere as a society in dealing with it.

Although I havn't watched any of it, I agree with you it was proberly down to jelousy. Shilpa seems to be a successful and attractive woman. Being somewhat amusing I don't think Jade even knows how to spell racism.

What's rather scary is the fact that Jade's been put into a police 'safe house' until things cool off. If the fact that most of Britain hate you doesn't worry her then being put in a 'safe house' for protection will definetely fuck her up mentally. She'll be living in fear for a while to come.

I personally think things have been blown out of proportion. Yes there were somewhat racist comments made but the fact was they 'just came out' (to quote Jade) and weren't said to be racist, they were just said out of anger (i'm sure everyone has said something they regret in the heat of the moment). However, there was a definite sense of bullying going on with Jade, Jo and Danielle ganging up on Shilpa, no doubt about it.

p.s Does anyone else here HATE Jack? I'm not an avid watcher of CBB but i have yet to hear him say anything (except perhaps a grunt when talking to Jade). That guy needs to grow a fucking spine. He's not a celeb and should imo walk.

tbh its hard to say. It seems that most people are arguing that even if she did not mean it like how it seemed it is nonetheless the kind of thing that causes a lot of ethic minorities to feel very uncomfortable. So it is worth thinking about within that scheme.

I've only recently seen bits of CBB, and to be fair to Jade, she is not Racists - she is just ignorant... same as Danielle. Jo is the one to watch out for, she maybe be borerline Racist, she can be really vindictive when she wants to be.

The other thing is, Jermaine (sp?) and Shelpa have said racist or derogatory comments about the other housemates - yet nothing has been said.

The problem with all of this is, only white people can be racist - I know, because the community I used to live in was mainly Asian and I was always getting harrased and yet if I said one thing people would be down on me like a tonne of bricks.
