... and bought a BMW 320d
Great car (the M), hugely addictive car, but as winter is setting in i've noticed a few things.
321 bhp through the rear wheels is fucking hopeless in anything other than bone dry. Put your foot down in the damp/frost/wet/greasy cold road and WOOOOSH, spin the wheels, back end flying out and sideways constantly. Even on the motorway doing 50 mph, give it some gas to get up some speed quickly and you're spinning the wheels again. In the dry, it's awesome, but in Scotland "dry" is a rare thing. Additionally, it may do 0-100 mph in under 12 seconds and have a limited 155 mph - but when the fuck can you get the use of that on our roads? Never
Why a 320d?
Looks like i'll end up working in Edinburgh again, which means a motorway commute - something a 3.2 litre petrol is not good for. 320d returns 50 mpg on the motorway with a good torquey motor. 0-62 is about 8.5 seconds, so it's not a rocket ship, but as I found with the M Roadster, you never can get the use of anything faster in the UK anyway.
Nothing stellar about the spec:
Silver
2001 Y reg
45k miles
Leather interior with brushed aluminium detailing
Climate control
6 Disc CD changer
Electric windows/mirros
Millions of airbags
I've bought a diesel!
