So far I've not spotted a way - though that doesn't necessarily mean it doesn't - I'm spotting new stuff each day.

Of course, if you've got a GeForce family graphics card you can use the nView manager to tell it to keep that window on top, tho it's a bit of a hack if there's a more elegant method...

ehm, it can be resized, try that little doohicky bottom right.
Living in the Windows environment as I do, I expect, if not integration, then the same logic that applies to other windows. I should be able to use the faithful old resize-from-any-side doohicky. Intuitive it is not.

Anyway, even resized, its cumbersome offensive dross; and while I'll admit it does much of what my winamp does 'out of the box' as it were, it does it in a crazy fashion, that is of no interest to me.

About the only plus point for iTunes was the title scrolling upwards smoothly, which would be nice to see in winamp, I guess.

If iTunes was this size by default, but with a perma-view playlist, I could just about imagine it being functional. But its not, and I'm not going to even bother investigating if thats possible, because, y'know, it won't be.

Its worth mentioning that by default iTunes installs software to detect an ipod. Look in your task manager, you should find it there.

I disabled the bugger in admin services, its not needed.

Winamp 5? What happened to 4? Was it because 3 was such an utter pile of wank they thought they better go straight to 5?

The file sharing thing in itunes is really cool, the full rendezvous thing in OSX is really neat anyway.

There is actually software to download stuff from itunes shares rather than just stream it (the basic protocol is HTTP-based).

It's an integration of Winamp 2 and 3, therefore, WinAmp 5. Yes, I think it's silly too.

Or maybe because 4 is seen as unlucky in Asia, and people avoid things labelled with it because of it

I'm totally sold on iTunes. I even let it organise my music files for me.

I have a question, though... Has anybody managed to work out how to get it working properly with the extra multimedia buttons on a Logitech keyboard?

It'll have something to do with customising the players.ini file, but I don't know what I need to add.

Help me!

:(

I have all my music files stored on a FreeBSD machine accessable using Samba, but iTunes doesn't like it at all. In fact I was holding out hope to put the iTunes directory on the FreeBSD machine, but no chance.

Instead of the Apple store try this place; (stick a http bit here)://(stick a www bit in here).allofmp3.com/index2.shtml great selection and extremely cheap. Even better they offer --aps encoding (although that does reduce your subscription time)

Also if you're looking for a decent player try Foobar, memory and cpu usage are microscopic compared to Winamp or iTunes, it sounds a lot better if you use kernal streaming, and it's just an incredible joy to use.
