I'm just curious on when minecraft becomes so graphically big, large, popular, etc etc that it turns into a so called sell out and loses all the things that make it as popular.
Well the thing that makes me play it is there is no limit to what you can do unlike 99% other games..
Seriously awesome game and I'd pay £80 for it for sure.

Yeah, that's the thing.
You can do so much because it's limited(graphically especially), but if you want to evolve from the basic concept it is, hwo far can it go without limiting what you can do![]()
You'd pay £80 for minecraft ?!!!!!????!!!
I'd have it on a mobile phone as a free-download, if there was nothing else on the internet more interesting to download. Its a game to play on the toilet while taking a dump.
You mean there is no limit to what you can build, not do.
Doesn't really float my boat tbh.
I like it but there is far more other games to play at the moment, it's more of a game to play when you are bored.
World of Warcrack is my current addiction
snazy textures wouldn't change the core game I don't think. To make it look decent it would have to be re-written from the ground up, its written in java isn't it? They could lower the size of the blocks and that would probably change the core game, whether that would be for the better I don't know
Quite what i meant, if they want it to look real(or nearer to real then it is), they'd have to change fundamental ways of how things work. mxmxm cubes wouldn't work anymore.
More stuff on screen = more need from the computer.
Soon it wouldn't be able to cope with the massive buildings and huge worlds, without zoning etc. Then it starts to go from "fun tool you can build sh*t with" to a "tool you can build some sh*t with".
Even with just snazzy textures, the computar would need mroe power to run it.
It can cope with huge worlds and massive buildings atmhttp://www.buxville.net/3Dmap/ (from one of the biggest Multiplayer servers)
that is HUGE.
Yes there's still lot to evolve, without destroying the old concept, but there's a limit coming and it's quite sooner then o0ne would think
About the graphics? Main issue really, it'll be doomed to stay as a fan-based relative success as long as those graphics are around, and if they mess with that, it will be limited.
Not to mention that when they step over that certain limit, it turns from "excellent B game" into a "very crappy A game"
