Sorry to be a nurse telling you the same thing Adari, but I promise you it is completely normal. I deal with tonsillectomies every day, and I make a point of saying to the patients on discharge....,'you'll probabaly feel a little bit better every day until day 4 or 5....then you'll get a whole lot worse again till about day 8, then it will wear off properly and you'll be grand.' Thats why we suggest taking 2 weeks off work/school.
Take your painkillers on a really regualr basis, set an alarm clock....paracetamol or its equivalent every 6 hours, nurofen/diclofenac every 8 hours....and if you've been lucky enough to be prescribed something stronger (tramadol for example) take that as well. Make sure you eat plenty of ice cream/ice cold drinks interspersed with lots of crisps, dry toast and other scratchy foods, as, believe it or not, this helps. If you need any questions answered, you can always pm me!
correctedOops - sorry my lovely, but I am going to post my story!
Did as instructed, trying to eat normal foods... after about 4 days I had lost stitches down my throat after trying to swallow a whole chicken, was in agony, went to hospital, it was all infected and I was kept in immediately, in isolation and on morphine, a drip and anti-biotics and painkillers for 3 days to recover.

get a good single malt whisky.
quarter cask laphroaig is 48.5%, that should sort it out.
Which also saw me in A&E with a suspected stomach ulcer.
Yeah, it's called "drinking whisky every day for a week" syndrome. I've avoided it since, it's not good for you; shame because I love whisky.

I'm on a whisky diet - I've lost three days already!

and I'm still in a large amount of pain.
Does anyone have similar experiences? Nurses keep telling me it's normal but it feels like the pain's increased since.
Going to be a very interesting driving lesson tonight.
