IT Contracting Issue

I've just started a short-term 5 week IT Contract. Yesterday, I had a call from another agency offering me another contract, which is closer to home and worth more cash.

It turns out the contract I am in has NO get out option at all, and I have to work the entire 5 weeks which could jeapordise the better contract.

Anyone have any idea on how I could get out? Apart from acting like a cock and getting sacked I mean.

It got me thinking that surely theres some kind of human rights thing that would stop companies from improving my quality of life?? Jebus, there's gotta something in this godforsaken politically correct world I can use to my advantage for once...

Any ideas?

A contract is pretty much a contract in all cases.

I would personally speak to the current contractee and explain the dilemma.
It may be worth offering to help in any way possible to sort them out, i.e. help them find or recommend another contractor or agency. Doesn't always help but it's worth a go.

Speak to the agency, if they play ball then they will get someonwe to replace yuo, if you can goto the other contract without any references from your current 5 week one then just leave. If the agency wont repalcer you fuck them off, they are pimps anyway, they would drop you like a hot potatoe if the client asked them to, is the agency you are with on the 5 week contract a large one that you may want to work for in the future, if not fuck em off.

Are you being paid by umbrella or limited, do the agency have your p45.

The agency is G2 Recruitment, who I'd never heard of until this contract.

As for pay, I have an umbrella company, the agency don't have my P45...

There's no such thing as a contract that won't let you leave. If you want to walk, walk. However, you need to be aware that if you do it too often agencies and employers won't use you because you'll get a reputation as unreliable.

|I have never heard of them either, and if you are getting paid by an umbrella company then fuick them off, is the other agency any bigger, if so , you are ok as far as the black list goes, you can just say its sour grapes and they didnt pay you etc etc.

Also post on the forums at http://www.contractoruk.com/ if you are unsure.
