ISP borg software

Just installed whsmithnet software on my brothers pc (they have a reasonable deal for 0808 access). Of course they've borged windows, added whsmith logo to internet explorer and outlook, and every time the dialer is run (gotta use the dialer I think) it changes the ie homepage. I'm fairly sure this is all tough shit, but anyone know if I can at least change the ie/oe corner image back to the spinning ms globe? that would at least give me some sense of satisfaction :/

(my brother actually doesnt give a flying fuck, but this sorta thing gets right on my tits  )

I'm pretty sure the IE and Outlook title bar text is in the registry.

That wasn't what I was refering to but I just noticed "Internet Explorer provided by WHSmithnet"

NO IT FUCKING ISNT, IT'S PROVIDED BY MICROSOFT YOU UTTER CUNT.

(gets on my tits.)

n1 though paul, I'll have a look for that. Any idea about the little spinny globe icon, top right?

edit: just found the reg entries for both of these things, just need to find the spinny globe gif. shouldnt be hard :)

yay, suck cock whsmith!!

Jaysus! Easiest thing to do is to reinstall IE and Outlook using a gen-u-ine Microsoft-supplied copy, downloadable from their webbeh.

I highly doubt you need the WHSmith dialer - just make a note of the username, password, phone number and pop3 and smtp settings and you can create a new, standard dial-up from scratch.

Never install shit ISP CD's if you need the number go find the configuration file open it in notepad and take out what you need.

I did this with ntlworld for their free dialup and that gearbox software...

Freeserve and XTream did that to me. logo's everywhere and the revolving world/window global domination symbol replaced.

better off to just note down any proxies, the dial-up number and your username and password. Re-install them all and then create a new dial-up in the DUN folder

It's a bit after teh fact, but you should have just opened that .ins file in notepad and written down teh settings, instead of installing the CD...
