cpu XEON 5540 Quad Core 2.56GGHZ - 2.88Turbo

Mem 6X1GB 1066MHZ HYNIX TURBO

MOBO LENOVO S20 DUAL PCI

CORSAIR CPU COOLER

CASE LENOVO S20 THINKSTATION

This douchebag at work's selling the above, pretty sure it's stuck in it's giant case for some reason but he's adamant with a graphic card he played some dayz/battlefield on high or something, which is a hell of a lot better than my current PC which runs DOTA 2/diablo 3 with ps2 era blocky graphics

Haven't done anything PC wise for so long, would appreciate an opinion

Those xeons are actually a pretty decent cpu and not too far off a reasonable i5. ( So for gaming the cpu will likely not limit you in any way ).

The main factor on what it would be able to run would be the graphics card it's using.

However the ram is a bit aging, 1600 is the minimum I'd put in a gaming rig these days.

Still if you put a decent ( £150 ) card in it you can probably run most things very well.

SSDs help load times, you can pickup a smallish one that'll take OS+ a few games for £40-80.

GPU wise the nvidia 760/ amd 270x is that £150 price range.

Yeah the 280 I forgot about, it's probably the best in that price range.

That + an 80gb/120gb ssd and you'll be laughing.

cheers fellas, I went for a 760 in the end which I got for free because I managed to jam a £155 voucher (the 280 was about £35 more from CEX, but I'm being a cheap ass cuz the only games I currently own on steam are CS:GO and Dota2)

went for a 120gig ssd too, so will hopefully end up with a reasonable machine having only paid £218, may upgrade ram at some point so thanks for info mates
