been following that game for over a year now, changes have been made from the original concept and i have my doubts about the endresult ... but..

A mmorpg where you can create yer own special and unique looking superhero is pretty sweet :)

stopping a mugger or a bankrobber might make a nice change from killing the same old tolkien inspired fantasy monster

I can't stand superhero stuff.
I don't think it'll impact on DAOC much, it's a completely different Genre.

If it's not swords/axes/various sharp things + magic etc, not really my bag.

World of Warcraft needs to get released, like yesterday :)

It all sounds and looks nice but most things do when they are in development.

The City will need to be huge though, it could get boring fast if 5 heroes appear to stop a mugging by a street thug.

Paragon City - The City of 3000 Banks!

Nice looking game...

I quite like the idea of this. It's a shame you can't opt for a villain. I think I'll try it though :)

been watching it for a very long time now, sounds great fun, dont think itll replace daoc, it was one of the 2 games i was planning to test while still in daoc, SWG being the other (HAHAHAHAHA) Hope all the delays are a good thing for it, i need to get my Captain Beard roaming the city saving all the chicks from foul smelling bad dudes :)

SWG this time next year.

No pvp at all, from what I understand they keep running into legal issues (from compaines claiming the system allows/encourages players to rip off actual comic book characters) plus the balance problems are worse than most beta games because balancing super powers is hard (imagine DAOC characters built *solely* around high powered RAs). And you can't play a super-villan.

But this is all heresay. Maybe it's fantastic. Or if it's not, maybe it won't be released until it's ready ( :ROFLMAO: ).

This is the most common trick companies started using lately, from E&B and after i believe.

Company X, announces Game Z.
- Players question, will your new Game Z have Player versus Player features?
- Company X answer, Definately we believe that incouraging player interaction in all levels is very important and it will be a significant part in Game Z.

Just before release (usually on the last Beta Phase)....

- Company X announces, We are happy to announce that Game Z is just about ready to launch, we are working on the last fixes on our trading and crafting aspects of the game and have decided to switch off PvP features for the time beeing.
- Players question, What? but you said it will have PvP from release what happened to your policy of Player Interaction on all levels?
- Company X...... we have promoted player interaction on all levels "except PvP" for the time beeing, we will probably intoduce a PvP expansion with a sucky Arena type fighting design and that when and if people realize our Game Z sucks as it is.

mm right from the word go over 2-3 years ago they said there would be no pvp in it until the expansion pack when you can play evil characters is released a few months or so after the original is released.

as i only want to do pvp and be evil i will probably get it then but not b4

yer right ...

There is still a lot of testing to be done, but so far things are going great and we wanted to share with you some of the things the beta testers are saying about City of Heroes:

“This is the first beta I have ever been a part of that actually exceeded my expectations.”

“Any fears of not being able to solo have been put to rest. While grouping is more efficient in many respects, the "Lone Wolf" style hero is very much alive and kicking.”

“This is the first game I've played where even the character creation is fun. I could spend hours playing with my costume choices.”

“I'm amazed this is beta. I'd pay to play the game as it currently is much less how much better it will be in a few months. It's probably a good thing that beta testing times are limited as I'm working on some serious sleep deprivation from all the amazing hours of play. Kudos, Cryptic, you've turned a MMORPG-skeptic into a believer.”

“This game is more immersive then any online or offline game I have ever played.”

“City of Heroes, even in its current Beta stage, is the most amazing game I have ever played online…this game is as good as YOU ever HOPED it would be!"

“From character creation, to exploring the city, and running missions, CoH pulls you into the world of Paragon City and you never want to let go.”
