Is this talk about a war really a war or just a massive terroist crackdown.

i was speaking to one of my History professors and he said he bloody scared of whats gonna happen. Especially at the words the US goverment is using, War, smoke em out, no where to hide, long costly operation. FOLKs.

Me is building me bunker in garden witth 10 years of beans.

dont think i will forget the shock when a mate said that two planes have crashed into the WTC, and me saying thats a bit of a coincidence. And when the first tower collapsed our teacher said said " Oh crap the worlds in big trouble now"

Thats not as bad as our history teacher who decidedm just after the 3 minute silence, to explain to us the huge historical relevance of this event and the vast probabilitys of a war, even going so far as to looking at a poster on vietnam (which we are currently studying) and saying that Vietnam was a tiny, insignificant war compared to the one we are likely to have.

Yikes!

I bet hollywood is making the films already. A film about thousands of people dying during a terrorist attack lead by a sterotypical Englishman, and Mel Gibson is the man who takes him out.

Typical, we can't go more than a few years without a war can we. This just isn't funny anymore. Although I suppose people like to destroy things as it's far easy to destroy than to actually build anything of consequence.

It seems it could be very likely. I haven't seen any definate confirmation of it but I've heard on news items that Dubya is gonna give the Taliban just 72 hours to hand over Bin Laden.
That means all hell could be broke loose by this time next week.
It doesn't look good at all. The Americans want revenge and they're gonna get it. The frustration in them is building. You can feel it in the news items and speeches people are making.
It's a more calm atmosphere but the underlying emotion is clear.
If the Americans don't get a satisfactory result in a few days then they're just gonna go for an all out general bombing campaign and that's a bad thing. A very bad thing.
The Taliban and it's affiliates are, quite frankly, a bunch of nutters who are rather unpredictable and who have a lot of money and a lot of weaponary. They're quite happy to go to war, in fact, it seems that's exactly what they want. They just don't have any official backing from any particular country so they're lying low and waiting to see what the Yanks do.
Sparks are gonna fly.

The thing is, the Taleban, for all their faults, have delivered the most stability Afganestan has seen in a while. The only reason they are protecting Bin Laden is that he is a personal friend of the head of the Taleban.
However, for an appropriate aid package (costing far less than a war), I'm sure an arrangement could be reached... The country is wracked by drought, and food is scarce. The Taleban don't want a fight with the US, but they don't want to lose face either. But the aid package will never happen. The Americans would never agree to it.:(
