BBC NEWS | England | Two accused over bomb plot

Teens in court over school bomb plot - News - Manchester Evening News

Basically 2 young lads planned an attack on a shopping centre and a school (literally 300 yards from where I live) as a tribute to the Columbine school shooters, it has been getting alot of coverage on local news in Manchester but neither my brother in Edinburgh or cousin in London had heard about it which seems a bit odd considering the amount of scaremongering in the media these days. I am suprised they haven't jumped all over the story, especially on slow news days.

Anyway, from the news coming out of the trial it is looking like the little fuckers might actually get away with it, the defence team are going to town with the 'it was all just a fantasy' story and I get the feeling it is gaining a little traction.

The "low fare out of manchester" flight commercial on that second article was funny, considering :D

But yeah, let them go and in about two weeks we get a news about a school/mall bombing.

If this goes through, it sets an precident for a lot of "it was only a fantasy" cases.

I heard about it, although im in the Northwest so... ;)

But i heard about it from the Most Read on the BBC site firstly, so im sure the story was at least nationwide.

I think there was talk about Canada as well, not sure what that was about.

I live in London and saw it on the news last week, no big fuss or anything though.

Personally i think not advertising it is a good thing, The reason people get the idea to do these things is because they're plastered all over the news.

Or perhaps because they know that when a cable goes into computer, there's a lot of information suddenly at your disposal :D

Or maybe its a slow news day and the chances of their conviction (or success) are low.

heard on my local station that it took the jury 45 minutes to find them not guilty.

also heard of a total blunder by one of the local police forces. theyd manage to nab a peadophile but they didnt take any of the evidence to court (photos/vids), so the judge had no choice but to find him not guilty.

There are schools in the northwest?

Of course, where else would they learn to interbreed so well! ;)

Its stupidthey were found not guilty to be fair, the evidence clearly showed they were both nutjobs. Who else would glorify the Columbine massacre unelss they were absolutely crackers.

No, they were found not guilty—which means they are innocent.

It's ok chaps, all they did was fantasize about killing all their schoolmates. And wrote extensive essays about "The Massacre". And played with explosives. :\

I've got two out of three. Your point?

Well I guess it depends which two apply to you.. I would suggest that having fantasies about blowing up your peers, writing essays about blowing up your peers and playing with explosives (ie all three) do not bode well for a jail-free future...

Having fantasies and writing things is nothing like the same as actually doing those things.

I've fantasized about it and have the knowledge and probably the means to carry out such an attack. I never would, though. but in this new era of thought crime, am I destined for jail?

We also know about your plans to build a secret volcano lair beneath a certain UK city.

Someone shall be visiting you shortly.
