Is Thid just assassins these days?

Hi,

I took a 3 month break from DAOC and now I'm back I'm making a little ranger for BG's. I've heard a lot about it being FULL of 'blades and infiltrators, is this true? or are there still some people playing casters and tanks in albion and midgard

well it has been for ages, but i logged on tonight and was surprised by the utter volume of non stealth classes there.

I think i spotted a mere TWO assassins, and one scout (two minstrels too but they dont count since you can't spec high stealth and have anything else at usefull lvl's as a battleground minstrel, you need those mini dings ), the rest were tanks and casters, was very pleasently surprised i can tell you!

i think it's that most battleground players have already gone through the assassin phase, so they're trying out other classes now and it's a welcome change in my mind!

agrees with charonel, there are still a hardcore of scouts, and infils and SBS tho

but ive tried alot now, (skald, sb, zerker) runie atm

next in line is a hunter (so i guess its back to a stealtehrs life for me)

but yes.......agreed, its more fun with big raging battles like tonight.

Yes its mainly Stealther characters now that roam Thidranki, mainly because of 2 things

1) they are alt characters of high level players and they want to have some fun.

2) they are new players to the game, but have friends that play the game and told them to try out the Stealthers or Its someone that just wanted to play a Steathler character (just like me, but i'm not new to the game, just changed realms)

But i'm not worried, i just stay back out of view until the Infiltrator of ShadowBlades makes a move on somone and there dead (2 or 3 shots) normally 2

As a matter of fact, i'm sitting here in Thidranki atm looking for lonely Casters and Light Tanks, but no luck at the moment

Was in caledonia as my Shaman alt on Morgan le fay,

Was comeing from Central keep over the bridge, and seen a Dead thane and a dead Skald, they were both level 33,

And a Blademaster who had 5% heath left, he whooped them good.

It is still easy to kill Light Tanks (if you are in the right position and you have your self buffs and maybe the odd buff frm a Warden/Bard/Enchanter...

But last night i took out a Berserker or Warrior in 2 hits

Critical 330 (+10)
Normal 120 (+23) Extra damga 19

Need i say more

zerkers are easy once they do the rat boy thing you do huge damage on them with arrows, average damage from me on a ratboy zerker, even con, in thid is almost 200 a shot, not bad for attacking a tank, and most dont have any higher than 600ish hps, although dwarves will have higher i'd expect, but they have to put up with looking silly so it balances well .

that damage is non crit by the way, with only my pathfinding buffs on me, no external buffs at all.

Sammie never lost a 1 on 1, and i defy any1 who ever met him to say he was an easy fight, additionally to my well respected and amusing friend Charonel i defy you to say "You look silly" to a dwarf berserker at all.

i got 700ish hps unbuffed as troll and 850 ish buffed... 230 str, so even if you do hit me for 300 dmg on PA i /face and hit you 300ish with vendo mode

If you wanna get past stealthers just roll a hib caster with some form of mez (menta/light eld) or a friar.

How on earth u get 230 strength even with buffs, my 44 toon doesnt get anywhere near that even with buffs.

well i killed a troll in 2 hits... i didn't see things it could have been a zerker/warrior/shammy

but it i killed it in 2 hits (maybe it had rez sickness and was still weak)

My norse zerk is capped at 136str with items, only 22 atm though, should have about 141 at 24. Add 30 for troll strength + shammy single and duel str/con buffs.

Take a troll, base 100 str, add 18 at the start.
He has 137 str at level 24.
Add 24 in items, 24 single buff, 36 double buff.
He has 221.
Add aug strength 1.
He has 228 strength. That's the most a troll can have in thid.

As for higher level, my minstrel has 150 ish str unbuffed. With buffs I can easily top 260. And minstrels don't get much str with levels. Also my minstrel is a briton which have a low starting str compaired to trolls.

bards


but flavour of the month in mid seems to be zerkers . everytime i hit a mid tank he seems to turn in a hamster and they feckin hurt ! not as many skalds as there used to be

my posts of how uber Sammie was, has made all those people roll zerkers.

but since no1 but a few hardcore nuts (me included) reads these forums, i know that cannot be true.

In a big battle in thidranki on wednesday night we had an excellent mix of classes guarding the fort.

I was nuking with another 2 firewizzies and we were really well supported by tanks and healers. 1st time Ive been in a battle there not totally overrun by stealthers and it was a lot of fun.

not to worry, the overpowered spearo's are coming made one myself called kederan, a big firby git with a pointy stick!

trouble was that by the time i'd reached lvl 6 and dumped my points into CS, i played a bit and realised that tanks are so utterly mind numbingly boring that i deleted him on the spot, oh well!

but they're coming, watching, waiting, they WILL be here!
