They try to impress apon you how serious drink driving is, you see it in the newspapers practically every day about how entire families get taken out by drink drivers, and yet the girl did it at the age of 14 and gets only 4 months?

And even when she throws a tantrum in a courtroom they cant even hold her in contempt?

How they even let it happen in the first place is beyond me.

I'm sounding more and more like my dad lately but kids nowadays just dont have any respect at all. I wouldn't have thrown a tantrum like that in school, let alone court. For her to get 4 months is like letting her off imo.

Know what you mean the kids are 'dumb asses' really I know there are the exception (the only hope for this country) but the majority of them are so stupid and have no value for anything or any idea of responsibilty I just can't understand how they don't fall down more.

we wouldnt have half the problems we do with badly behaved teenagers if the parents were actually any good at parenting.some folks appear to have kids as a means of claiming more benefits and spend as little time interacting with them as possible.then u also get the increasing number of people that dont want to take any responsibility and seem to think it is up to the schools to teach their kids values and morals.

Driving without a licence is not an arrestable offence. Driving while banned is.

Personally I think that if there were proper sentences handed out, especially in the cases of persistent offenders, then there would be a proper disincentive to offend in the first place. There's a world of difference between getting a community punishment order or ASBO and knowing that you'll be walking out of a borstal in six months with your arse like a decorators paste bucket.

It wasn't any particular crime policy ( small rises were predicted ), yet it dropped drastically. Well, two decades earlier there was this little case called Roe vs Wade, you might have heard of it.

Children of those in poverty are more likely to turn to crime, its that fucking simple.
Does that make it condoneable? I don't know.
I think in theory its the incorrect thing to do, only problem is we're gonna get outbred by chavs and the human race will devolve, promoting lazyness and dole living bajillionkiditus. </dailwail>

LOL, there were most definate policies which dealt with the crime problem in new york. Mayor Giuliani was responsibile almost entirely for changing NYC. Scemes involved were Welfare to Work, targetting organised crime on all levels and lots and lots of other policies.

Abortion has nothing to do with it, if it did then why are other cities in the US still swamped by murders and crimes of all sorts?

One of the Main things that Giuliani did was to empower people and give them back pride in themselves and their surroundings, probably the most important two things there are. Without self worth and love of where you live you will end up fucked up and living in a shit hole.

Edit: Everyone goes on about chavs, this, and chavs, that in some sort of self richeous snobbery. Think about it more carefully and you will see that people acting out and yobs are no in fact the problem, but the symptoms of the wider problems in society today.

dont think its quite that simple throddy. Yes, there should most certainly be some punishment, but also the various causes of their behavior should be investigated and amended. Hitting the problem at both ends is the best solution - improve the social situation by whatever means and punish those who exploit the system instead of working.
