is lieing sometimes ok?

i usually pride my self on being a straight talking, no bullshit kinda guy. 99% i dont lie and take offence if someone says "OMFG YOU LIAR". well this week my two young cousins are staying and one of them who is 6 i think, was in my room talking to me. he asked me "do you smoke?" i lied and said no.

my reason for it was because im trying to set a good example for this little mofo so he can turn out pro like me (minus the filthy smoking).

was i right to say no? or should i have told the truth?

I'd of said no aswell. But if you were to say yes, I'd of said why it was a bad thing/shown some dodgey images of what lung-cancer looks like.
