Is lag casting a new feature ?

Just wondering because quite a few times tonight while playing certain enemies FLY through the air and kill me way before they come into range of my bombers. and its not just a one off occurance its the same people over and over again who are doing it.

Now i understand some classes have increased range such as scouts and hunters and theugs and wizzies and shams etc. However standard dd's i thought were on a 1500 range like my bombers or lifetap.

Just wondering because its seems to me some people are really seriously cheating but i wont give names ill see about getting a gm online some time to actually watch them and find out .

Pitty none are online over the weekend.

+range doesn't affect the range you cast bombers from, but the range the bombers cast their spells from, so others nuke further than you

I been baseline stunned just out of my bolt range with cs charge up...it happens but it's not often, it's mainly caused by yourself lagging which sometimes you can't notice but i doubt anyone would cheat to do it unless they like running loads of programmes in background or have an average pc but with everything on highest settings plus far clip range.Lets face it though the daoc engine isn't great at all really.(los on small lumps on flat land, nuking through walls, getting stuck often and so on, my pc plays world of warcraft 1600x1200 highest settings on everything 90fps but in daoc i can lag sometimes, shows how much the engine sucks)

cata's introduces a new gfx engine, might reduce some lag that people get.
plz correct me if wrong.

some get very good result with the new engine, some get worse, depends on what PC you got, not how well it performs which is abit funny :)

Don't think many people are going to be RvRing with the new gfx engine considering all the models are much more detailed and having a big bash, with 100+ higher polygon models running around, doesnt seem very lag-free. I foresee waves of LDers as their PC crash in the middle of a fight :mad:

its all down to optimisation if the cata engine runs faster with more polys than the toa engine then you will get less lag no matter how great the graphics looks.

Im sure i heard mythic say that the toa engine is very crappy for rvr with the SI engine is meant to be much better.

Just down to coding.

If they made the coding better in Cata's, you can still turn down the gfx settings if the computer can't handle it I guess?
