is it worth it?

Ok heres how it is.
I play a number of games, some for clans, some not.
with Q3 im in a few other leagues (jolt/savage) so not botherd about the bw leauge.
Tribes i can always find a full server for, not really got into BF yet, or ut2003.
From the posts in this forum and others it seems that the barrys servers are always empty, i dont need the mail addy (had it 4 years) webspace i get from my isp, and the ftp is not needed in the least.
Should i spend me 12 quid on barrys? or is it just a waste of money?

well to be honest theres 2 ways of looking at this.

1) If everyone said "fuck this, the servers are always empty, i'm not spending £12 on that" then the servers will always be emtpy.

2) If everyone said "its only £12 year, I can't even buy 5 pints of beer for that, what the hell lets sign up" then the servers would be a lot busier than they are .

at the end of the day its up to you, but my advice is get a sub, and talk all your mates into getting one, then we can all start building the community from there .

didnt say much but hey, after 5 months they grace us with there presence.

Yeah but you only have a point 3 because eveyone is doing a point 1, if point 2 was used then point 3 wouldn't exist .

well I only got a sub for BF1942 so dont feel to bad, cuz I got ripped off as well lol, but hopefully that will all change over the coming months.

Actually it's a really good deal if you're like me and don't like playing with other people anyway.

I cba to try and persuade anyone to subscribe. It's their money. People seem to get all up tight about some things and then throw their wallets at others. I wonder if everyone cancelled their IGN Insider accounts, files would go back to being easy to get hold of again. That's prolly just a fantasy though

Prolly the main reason for subbing was just because I like Barrysworld. I think they're an asset to the UK gaming industry and it'd be a shame to see them go under. And as people have said many times it's not all about the servers. A lot of us find the FTP and bookables easily enough reason for paying the money.

It has all been said before but I doubt the servers will be empty forever. But if they do become super-popular I think everyone that subbed from the start should get T-shirts or something

The general response so far has been, go for it! as you will be giving back something to barrysworld, whilst at the same time dont expect anything thing from them(at least not yet).

I know its only 12 quid, but tbh i could give that to a tramp and not expect anything back, Barrysworld/Game are a fucking big company. I expect more.

possibly because i wanted the opinion of other games players and not just the general forum fuckers who openly admit to not playing anything really?

I'd say yes, the more subs who want to play, the more chance there is of getting a decent game going. It's kind of hard at the mo as I know a lot of people are apathetic and bf42 in particular is a game that benefits from large numbers instead of a close up game you can play 3 on 3s on.

In the end there's only so much the players, and even the liaisons can do, and hopefully something will kick off soon as suggested by the 'suits'.

I'd say yes as well. I've had more out of my sub than most people, since Operation Flashpoint only needs a small squad. The games of Battlefield 1942 I have had on the Barrysworld servers have been far better than any EA UK games, they would be worth it alone, especially if things pick up and we get a few more.
