This is everyone’s discussion forum?
Is it? Im not sure. I can understand that as Barrysworld has grown its membership considerably space has probably become an issue & calls for greater moderation have arisen.
The Barrysworld membership must surely contain a large range of people from all different backgrounds and standards of education all with different outlooks on life & senses of humour (senses of humour? Does that sound right?) This makes for disagreements in discussion and what is a valid discussion or even what is funny.
Somebody posts something that they think is funny in their opinion. Not everybody will think it is funny. What happens now? Well people will either post rofl or fo u twat it seems. That is fair enough people are entitled to an opinion. But apparently some people in the forum think that they have the ultimate decision on what is funny & if a post does not fit their sense of humour or opinion then it is a pointless thread & therefore spam.
Maybe someone who has not had the benefit of as much education as someone else does not put their point across as clearly as someone would like. Or maybe its above not beneath them. The meaning of the post is not clear to them so flame the spammer posts appear.
This sort of stuff would be evident in my post from the other day where I made reference to naming your characters to be offensive to GOA or Mythic as they never play the game thus it would never be offensive to anyone in game. I was having a dig about that the fact Mythic have no idea about class balance & Mythic change names for no reason. This was my opinion I tried to be funny (failed) so does that that really make it a pointless thread (spam)?
I issued a challenge to Jupitus today to be funny himself. This was a bit of fun from me & I thought we could have a little friendly verbal sparring. Maybe this is Spam especially for the general discussion board (in hindsight I think it belonged in off topic). I see two reasons why people read these boards, to have a laugh & to get information. If this bored is just purely for information then remove the off topic forum & learn to respect other peoples opinions folks. If it is also meant to be a bit of fun then for christ sake people realise that not everybody has the same sense of humour & some people are just not funny to everyone else (me) but like to have a try.
Apologies i said i wouldnt start another thread as the flames are starting to touch me neck now. This is the last one I promise.
