Ive heard many people mention a "bad pint" but last night, I had two pints of lager and suddenly felt weird. We were supposed to be going for a meal but instead I went home. As soon as I got home I had to race to the bathroom and ive never been sick like it. If anyone has seen stand by me and the part where the guy was being sick it was just like that. LIke a hosepipe from my mouth and it was just liquid that I brought up. Then its started comming out of my arse and I just curled up on the bathroom floor with the kids bringing me water in between being sick and shitting like a woman pisses. Ive never had this happen to me and its spooked me! I still feel ropey now.

Bad pint? Or maybe a bug?

Its more than likely a bug, unrelated to the pint, just coincidental. Though you can ofc get a bad pint too if the pub doesn't clean their pipes properly, the wrong sort of cleaning products or not even cleaning them at all. The beer could have become contaminated in the barrel too.

Yep a bad pint is quit possible Marc, they haven't flushed out the cleaning fluid from the lines before serving beer so you end up with 550ml's of beer and 18ml's of cleaning fluid which will rip through your system in no time and do exactly what you described. A bottom of the barrel pint is possible as well, doesn't usually hit you until hours afterward though.

I agree if it had a funny taste it sounds like the pipes were not flushed after cleaning.

Bad pints exist, as others have said, usually because the pub has poorly trained staff who don't clean their pipes properly or often enough.

Although you'd usually notice it because the pint would taste like shit.

Then it is more likely you got a bug, although it could have been from something you ate earlier in the day as well, or maybe just an unwashed glass.....

With lager and the fizzy ciders like strongbow/blackthorn the place in the barrel is pretty irrelevant since they are pretty full or preservatives and chemicals. Ales, cloudy ciders and some stouts will be bad if they are more than a week or 2 old.

You can really notice badly cleaned pipes when you drink Ales but it has to be pretty dire till you notice it in your average pint of fosters.

Want a 'bad pint'? Ask for anything on tap at Staffs Uni.. They're so bad, people have just resorted to bottled beer.

I'll go with Chodax's suggestion of a touch of cleaning fluid left in the pipes first, winter bug second. I've had just such a bad pint back in 1994. It tasted slightly odd and was literally less than 5 mins after having the drink that I was puking my guts up in the loo. It also left me feeling really crappy for the following day.

Funny that the bad pint affects one person at any given time in your stories,
unless you can proove some common occurrence that affected at least two people
in a similar way at the given pub, then logic and likelyhood is that the issue is related to the individual and not the drink.

not saying bad pints dont exist, good chance they do, but if so, they'll be likely to affect more than one person at a time...

Unless you drink the first pint though the tube and tell them before every one else gets one? The ones i have had have tasted bad so it was obvious.

Good point there.

Most likely a virus, could be from the bar, could be from a crisp your friend offered, could be bad food you ate earlier etc etc.

Best way to deal with is to take the hit, puke it out, forget fingerpointing and move on :D

Have had a few bad pints over the years, but you can taste the difference. Usually it is not the beer at all but due to the pipes being washed through and then not cleaned properly. Other than that it can be the botttom of a barrell if its an Ale.

In Jersey I once asked the barman to change a pint as you could see it was cloudy and tasted horrible, bottom of the barrell. Anyway the barman not only refused but I then got a barrage of foul mouthed abuse from the landlord. Along the lines of F'in mainlanders comming here and telling us how the beer is supposed to be. We showed him 3 pints of the same beer, only 1 was cloudy. He still carried on with the verbal and even barred me in his rant. He ended up wearing the pint and two visiting teams of waterpolo palyers walked out to find another pub. The look on his face was priceless as his bar emptied. Especially good as most of the players had ordered food but yet paid for it!

Cloudy part of an ale/real ale are yeast sediments, nothing more...
infact alot of the "taste is in that bit" some love it some dont
unplessent to look at sure, but all together harmless as well..

So was he right in refusing you a new pint ? Yes
should he have done it anyway ? yes

throwing it in his face ? childish!

Not really olga, he did say the barman and the landlord were being abusive towards him too. I thought it was the least that should have been done ;p

it's a faar cry from verbal to throwing a pint in someones face
so yes, really...

Throw some verbal abuse back in his general direction and only if your counter part
takes it to the next level, only then do you oblige.

Give up alcohol

(lol like any of you lot could :D. Bunch of pissheads. Even if you were diagnosed with liver cancer some of you would be straight down the pub to drown your woes)

I've had about two pints worth of beer since new years, and no other drinks. I've cut right down now. Mainly cause I want to save money.
