Is it illegal...

I'm not one to generalise so I won't say that most coppers are wankers.

Police Powers

For the police to be able to require a breath test, a driver must have either:

(a) committed a moving traffic offence, e.g. speeding, failing to observe a stop sign, having a defective light etc.,
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

they are allowed to do random breath tests for no reason at Christmas though.

They can do random tests whenever, they just have to follow certain rules about advertising it in advance. Hence the increasingly common summer campaigns.

Good job too, drinking and driving is only done by scum who would do the world a favour by ramming themselves into a tree before they kill someone minding their own business, imho.

I think the law should be changed so you can't drink anything; that way there is no confusion over how much you've had or can get away with.

That couldn't practically happen, for much the same reason it is near impossible for the Police to realistically police the cannabis law. So they don't bother (to a degree)

I always thought that the police could demand a breath test from a driver if they have good reason to believe the person is under the influence. In Scotland you can't be questioned or cautioned by the police if there is only one present (that just means that they radio for another one tho). They can't arrest /caution / question you outside a police station if they're not in full uniform either (managed to get away with summit once coz policeman wasn't wearing his hat at time i was arrested). As for using the police radio in car, they're supposed to pull over to use their radio, if you spot them driving and doing it you can report em.

If you are plastered and decide to take a kip in the back of the car, I doubt they'll do anything tbh.

It wouldn't have to be policed any more than it is now, it's more to avoid confusion amongst the people who drink and drive. You wouldn't have to guess if you'd had too much or not if any amount is too much. People would be tempted to have that extra one if they knew they weren't supposed to have any in the first place.

Doubt it. You're hardly in control of the vehicle are you if you are comatose in the back seat. Anyone who tries to argue that you are is more retarded than I thought.

but you are liable to wake up at some point still pissed and try and drive home in your car; a policeman/woman isn't allowed to just leave you in there in that state if you have the keys.

But driving home the next day still pissed is all part of the fun.

oooh petrol pumps are FAR too complicated for the morning after. I have enough problems getting the car started (It's a complicated process starting my car).

I believe it's called "drunk in charge of a vehicle", and yes you will get nicked if caught. If you don't have the keys on you then you are OK.

You would get nicked as soon as you opened the door and got in - whether you intended to go to sleep or not. Simple as that.

wouldnt that be harder as your snorting rather than just drinking a bottle of beer. :?

Snorting coke across your dash may get some unwelcome attention from the fuzz.
