Yes, Capello was right to remove the England team captaincy from Terry.

The captaincy of a national team is not just a position of responsibility, it is a position that demonstrates judgment and respect.

Banging someone outside of marriage in itself isn't cause to take the armband off him. Banging the g/f of someone in the team shows poor judgment and a lack of respect for the player. That lack of judgment and respect for his fellow players is why he should have stepped down voluntarily when it become mainstream news. The fact that he refused to do the decent thing and wait for the team manager to come back into the country and forcibly remove his captaincy speaks volumes IMO.

On the one hand I think maybe yes because he's the team captain and how can any one expect a good team performance after this the other players probably hate him or dislike him a lot which would put their ability to play well as a team at risk.

on the other hand no because it was his personal life, to be clear I do think what he did was total shit and think he (and her) are both bastards but is it really the job of the employer to judge someone for things done outside work?

Apparently Terry had a chance to keep the arm band all he has to do was offer to stand down. But in refusing to do that's its felt he sucked the England captaincy into this whole problem and put himself above the position so he had to go. If he had offered to stand down he would have got the England camps backing as this had nothing to do with Football.

That was on a Jock football phone in who were talking about taking bets for this being the reason England don't win.

I don't buy that soze, the only way for the media fever to die down, and make this a non story was for him not to be captain. Even if he stood down himself. He clearly has the backing of the England camp and FA anyway, or they would have said more. Capello has handled the situation well, you can tell he really cannot stand the tabloid press and doe not want to give them anything to run with.

You see, this is the kind of attitude that sums up whats wrong with society.
Big deal, he shagged someone, move on. Except for the fact he had a wife and children. If Terry didnt get some sort of punishment, it would send out the message to the millions of children that idolise people like Terry, that its totally fine to cheat on your wife because whats the worst that will happen? Nothing.

Like it or not, professional footballers are role models to millions of kids and are such a privaledged position that they should act as clean as they can.
