ooh that looks rather nifty; I really enjoyed the first one and like RDjr but refuse to even contemplate seeing the new shitelock holmes movie and am not sure I forgive him for partaking in it so might be a bit dubious about watching any of his new movies until he writes to me and apologised tbh.

Sherlock bad? Iron man bad?

What is this, the anally suppressed club? :eek7:

Ironman 2 looks great, has some nice enough characters in it too.

Shock news! Zenith.UK in total agreement with old.Tohtori!
I'm critical about many films, but I generally know when to disengage my brain and sit back to enjoy the ride. Many so-called film critics are so far up their own backside that they can't admit when they actually like a film. Some film critics for newspapers and magazines seem to feel a need to run down a film if it is either mainstream popular or not "arty". Quite a few people here on FH seem to suffer the same problem and be too stuck up to admit that they might enjoy a film.

Iron Man - Love it. Got the bluray.
Sherlock Holmes - I'll be going to the cinema to see this one.
Iron Man 2 - Will almost certainly be seeing it at the cinema, and besides...
Scarlett Johansson with red hair in leatherrrrrr... :sex:

Hell, I went to see Avatar last night (as I put in my other thread) and when I walked out at the end, I felt I'd got my money's worth and that it was a good film. I dont mind admitting that I thoroughly enjoyed it and my daughter (10yrs) had this to say about it: Awesome, cool, colourful, awesome, violent & pwned. :)

i didnt like the first one because it followed the same formula that half the other superman films follow without bringing anything new. add the fact that the main character went through what would kill anyone else in world about 8 times yet came out unscathed everytime.

what's the point in watching a film like this when the main character is invincible? and that's without his suit on

You do have a problem with the concept of comic books? :D

Wouldn't say he was invincible... got some pretty nasty shrapnel wounds in the explosion at the start, including fragments heading to his heart... there's a future reliant on some kind of personal power source for a start, plus when he returned to America, his arm was in a sling, so obviously another injury picked up... and let's not forget, when his mini-reactor gets stolen, he's immobilised and left for dead, and very close to it. course, if it was totally realistic, he'd have been blown to bits in the first scene, and we wouldn't have much of a movie... I'd rather the movie they made, much more entertaining...

oh, almost forgot, nice trailer that, looking forward to seeing that when it hits the screen :)

Quite enjoyed the first film. Always liked Iron Man, think I prefer the character as he's just a man with a suit, rather than a mutant. Very vulnerable without the suit on, whereas someone like wolverine for example is never going to get taken by surprise.

Looks good to me, quite enjoyed the first one, although it is quite formulaic as already noted.

It's ridiculous, but that's comic books/escapism whatever you like.

Anyway they're all shit because the "hero" always ends up fighting someone who might change the status quo - who knows, it could even be for the better! And as for all those they make suffer making their vision come about, well let's face it, there can't be much worse inequality than there already is. Thus all heroes are villains and vice versa. Enjoy your eye opening moment for the day!

Also they're crap because they can't be long enough to delve into the interesting characterisation which is put into some comics. Having said this, even if they did get the chance to (see comicbook heroes who have had TV series' made about them) the writers are probably shackled and beaten into making happy fluffy light TV candy by an army of brutal executive producers who are only interested in viewing figures. Probably the best was The Hulk TV series.

And that is the end of my rant it was great AAA+ for me, woot! Bye bye! :eek7:

action films are not allowed to be crap, they are allowed to be action films. you dont need complex plotlines or awesome character development in the lifelike multidimensional characters. there are movies that you watch because they are good movies, with interesting messages and great artwork, and there are movies that you watch with explosions, rock music, halfnaked women and oneliners.
it goes well with a couple of mates and a few beers, while you might want to enjoy the other, 'good' kind of movie by yourself, so that you may be immersed in it.
