IRC-Channel For Thidranki on Excalibur...

Started a new channel for Thidranki on excalibur server so the 20-24 lvl people can have a chan. to talk in .

Since we are a bunch off ppl playing in the BG's it would be fun to actualy be able to talk to the enemies and hear what they tink about things you do and things you don't and maybe get to hear how they could kill u there and why the did not see u there

well it is just like any other chan but i for one would like to meet the ones i kill/get killed by even if we are enemies in the game we can still talk in real life (erhm or outside the game atleast) ....

Coz if not id like it,, can talk to m8`s on msn while playing then

i am not sure about how "bannable" DAoX is ... from what i understand GOA won't do anything against DAoX users... but as they say in EULA/Code of conduct : they are not allowing any 3rd party programs to alter DAoC... (not exact words tho...)


If they say it straight out that they will allow it i will for sure use it cuz it sounds good =) to talk on irc while on horse or pad or just w8ing for rezz =) so i think that DAoX is a good thing in that matter but after reading about and seen with own eyes speedhax and stuff I don't like the way it is used.... even if i mainly think ppl use it to use mIRC/IE and whatever at the same time.. =)

As for now i use 2 comps pretty far apart so soon i have to buy a new carpet in this room =) since my chair goes back and forth between comps =)

Could someone please explain to an idiot like me how i can join like a server in irc and then join a channel and so on... i don't understand shit, im such a n00b

Ok i try to explain in 15 steps...

01. Go to www.mirc.com and download a copy of mIRC.

02. Install mIRC to where u want.

03. Start mIRC

04. You Should get a window open that is named mIRC options.

05. In the Dropdown menu named IRC Servers Choose: Quakenet

06. In the dropdown below that, choose whatever server u like.

07. In the Fullname : type what u like don't have to be ur real name

08. For email type also what u like (easy isn't it) (this and line 07 is what others on IRC can see about u)

09. Then u choose a nickname and secondary nickname if your nickname should be in use (how u protect it comes further down)

10. Then simply press the "Connect to IRC Server" button in the middle.

11. It will roll some text in the window and then u get a new window open with lots of #blabla and #blabla there u type #thidranki.exc and press join.

12. Now i enter the nice and friendly room of thidranki on Excalibur and can start talking to us by typing text in the line below all the text rolling and pressing enter.

13. To protect your nickname and make sure only u can use it type
/msg G hello <nick> <email> <email> (<nick> beeing ur preffered nickname and <email> being your email )

14. Then open your emailbox and w8 for a mail from Q (Q beeing the one handling all the names and passwords, a server not a real human)

15. Just follow the instuctions in the mail and u have protected your nickname

hope this explains it... and plz ppl if i have made some errors correct me i wont get mad....... i promise..... muhahahaha

bleh, dosen't work... all i get is "Couldn't find your hostname" and stuff then i get disconnected

try changing the settings on the "Local info" part wich can be found by clicking the "+" in front of "Connect" on the left side memu in mIRC options.

try to change under "on connect, always get:" and "lookup mehod"

on the left u can there u can look at "firewall" and change there if u have a firewall or proxy....

you can also try to choose another server it could help...

ooh and also make sure u have typed something in emial and fullname.. can'r be blank..

just a thought but maybe itwould fill up more if it wasnt described as thidranki . if you were to ad it as BgIRC then im sure folkswill come from all 3bgs . also the people who out lvlin rps the 1st bg can still goad the peeps in 2nd bg and 3rd etc etc as they get to many rps for the bg..

Apparently so Trog, maybe they got some pie there or something, can't think of any other reason to go to BGs, not like you get good RvR or anything.

i think it is because u don't have the lvls =) (yes i mean that u have to high lvls) naa serious at thidranki on exc u can get good RvR not all that run run mezzed mezzed dead rezzed dead rezzed run run as u get in emain ...

bah why dont you all lvl to 35 and come to the third bg.. been there a few times the last week and ran 2-3laps of it.. and theres NONE .. no hibs no albs.. no mids either.. kinda sucks

Tho my skald is zipping around the alb zerg on the first bg... and gets constantly ganked by infis ... since i have 0rp ( only been there twice ) you must get tons of rp for my poor little kobbie skald Halford

BTW from what i heard DAOX is untraceable (as it only puts you in a windowed mode) but if you say "whoah dude im using DAOX and it rocks" in game they could trace you in the log and ban you .. but i find that highly unlikely too.. as that would take a ton of work to parse the logs etc etc. On the other hand if they could trace it and banned ppl on sight.. theyd prolly loose 60% of the playerbase

So you can be banned for using it... whether you will be I dunno

if they would ban everyone that uses daox they would have to ban like 50% of the player base
