ipod won't charge

hi all,

just got back from holiday in spain.
I tried charging my ipod over there using the official ipod charger with a converter plug thing. However the voltage fucked it I think.

When I plugged it in the battery was nearly empty, It charged for about 1 minute then said fully charged. The ipod lasted for about 5 minutes before it ran out of battery.

When I plug it in the mains now it says fully charged, when really its empty.
The ipod runs fine off the mains but goes off when I unplug it. If I plug it into the PC it says "very low battery, please wait" but it doesn't come off that. I've tried 2 different cables and reset the ipod with it plugged in. Anyone experienced anything like this that can help me please?

if its still under warranty, time to get apple rung, or get to a store, if its not, well there's a good chance, you may have well, have but-fucked the charge out of the battery,

i suggest maybe, leaving it on charge in the mains for few days,

if it still keeps losing it's charge.. well the battery is fuXed

Have you tried re-booting it from scratch ?
(Your music files are backed up on your PC I assume)

how? it won't connect when i plug it in so the pc can't recognise it until it boots up. stays on "please wait, very low battery"

You can reboot the ipod without connecting it to the PC.....well you can with my one - I got the very first version of the ipod - can't remember what buttons you press, but you can reboot the entire device without attaching it to anything

with it turned off? I can reset the ipod. By holding down menu+middle button with the plugged in, doesn't help tho.

Sounds like it got knackered when you put an alien voltage through it. IT shouldn't have done that though. Any plug adapter should have put the right voltage through. I'd ditch the plug adapter straight away and buy another. Which version ipod you got ?

Not on one of those flashy 5th generation jobbies, no.

I'll tell you whats definitely worth while doing - if you've not already done so - find a couple of ipod forums and post your question there. There's bound to be someone somewhere with the same problem. Hopefully you'll find out where you stand.

I do that a lot now with problems. There's an internet forum on pretty much anything these days. Eg Digital Arts - Forums
