Boot into safe mode under your normal user name.
Go to start > run and type services.msc. Search for the following services. Double click to select stop if they are running. Set the startup type to disabled. Click apply/ok for each service you disable.
ipmon
SManager
smgr
Open your task manager by pressing holding ctrl, alt and pressing del. Alternatively, use ctrl + shift + esc. Go to the processes tab, and end the following processes, if found:

ipmon.exe
smanager.7.exe
smgr.exe

After that, run HijackThis and fix the following entries
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [smgr] smgr.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ipmon] ipmon.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SManager] smanager.7.exe
O18 - Protocol: msnim - {828030A1-22C1-4009-854F-8E305202313F} - "C:\PROGRA~1\MSNMES~1\msgrapp.dll" (file missing)

Close HJT

Navigate in Windows Explorer and delete the following files
C:\WINDOWS\smgr.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\ipmon.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\ipmon.exe
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users.WINDOWS\Application Data\gbgdotoh.exe (not 100% sure what this is?)

Reboot into normal mode .

HijackThis. (Link above) - The method should work.
Search and Destroy (The home of Spybot-S&D!) - Install, update and run.

Also, check the symantec website for removal techniques.

ok this is what i did

1) download hijack.. run it in normal mode.. it brings up a list of stuff, think they are unwanted programs on your computer. Try and delete them all especially ipmon.exe (you will see it on the list).

2) It will prolly say not all can be deleted or something, but now you reboot your computer, press f12 when it says to load up safe mode.

3) once in safemode, locate this program... usually in my docs and settings, user, desktop icons.

4) run the program and repeat step 1. You can delete this program this time and probably the others.

5) load normal mode up and go in2 your windows sys32 folder. There will be an ipmon.exe (dont run it for heavens sake ;p) but delete it (then empty your recycle bin so you arent tempted to run it ;)).

6) run programs such as adaware, and trend micro (online scan). If you want to get these virusus/whatever off your computer run them in safe mode and they will be deleted, although some of them cant especially in the trend micro one.

if you need anymore help pm me on here for my msn or something and ill try walk you through it.
