But I don't want to, so why should there be the potential for change along the lines of "your PC could watch iPlayer, so really you should pay the fee and we're going to send you shit letter after shit letter after shit letter until you do or you die"

I don't want to pay for things like the Scottish Parliament buildings, but I have to.

Actually you're made to, so effectively your point is you don't want to pay for things as well but you don't understand my complaining about not wanting to pay for something?

My point is that I don't want to pay for it but I accept it and get on with my life. And before anyone suggests I might have a conflict of interest, most of my income is derived from broadcasters other than the BBC. I get very little work from the BBC. In fact the last job I had with them had no lunch break, several locations that didn't appear in the final edit, and a voiceover recorded on an iPad (which I was furious about). I charged them a penalty for not giving me a lunch break and I've never had any work since, which tbh suits me just fine.

As taxpayers, there are lots of things we fund but do not use. Why single out the television licence as being iniquitous? BUPA customers wouldn't get much sympathy if they suggested being able to opt of out paying for the NHS.
Exactly, my "poll" aka council tax pays for the local libraries, swimming pools and road lights (don't need them as my car has lights) which I never use. I fund that, why?

Hopefully they will fuck off soon and take with them the Scottish "whatthefuck" currency which will be worthless, oh, and they won't be in Europe. Seriously, the First Minister is a cunt who does not understand the power of the Union over a country's independence, which incidentally, has been given power over the last few years. In reality the English are the ones who are being fucked over by Westminster.

So you accept something so we all must... hmm... all hail king tom then I suppose?

Anyway, back to the Beeb it seems now they're moving BBC Three "online only" for cost reasons... that wouldn't be an attempt to start a push that the licence fee applies to internet connections in any way shape or form though, of course not... I must just be diving off the deep end.

I don't think its fair to charge license fee for iPlayer unless it includes a full service including live streamed TV. Until then its just a catchup TV app and totally disposable, not worth paying for. The range and quality on there is quite shit. I rarely, if ever, use iPlayer. If they start charging for it in its current state, I'll simply block the URL etc on my firewall to make sure nobody accidently uses it.

Tivo > iPlayer.

Ok, shows how much I use it. They upped the content availability for previously shown stuff?

I don't think so, the majority of the stuff recently broadcast is only up for a week or so, and they chuck the odd random episode of things in here and there.

The sad thing is the ITV Player generally has stuff up for 30 days after broadcast, and ITV is 'teh ghey'.

Unfortunately for me, the football last night. It's literally the only (last resort) reason to watch it. :p

It gets worse every game on ITV. They said the wrong players name countless times, totally mixed up. The half time analysis is dogshit too.
