I don't normally bait.
But I can't help it in this instance.
Despite morons queuing for half of their entire working week outside an Apple store in London for the latest pointless and technologically worthless gadget, I can't find one for love nor money.
Not the Iphone of course, the morons. Quakenet has a channel #iphone with 3 people in it, including L. And they weren't even there to mock.

Is there noone daft enough to like, want or own one of these items for me/us to mock? Or are these people intelligent enough to keep well hidden.

Since 90% of the people in America bought then on day 1 to flog on ebay and lost money no one here is doing the same. Plus, expensive contract is expeeeeeeeeeensive.

well hidden i think, even the silly people willing to buy one aren't daft enough to advertise the fact that they obviously have to much money and or to much spare time :)

As far as im aware, O2 are not opening their stores tomorrow [Day of release] until 6:02pm. Thats the time the stores are opening, as well as it comes on sale online too.

Not a fan of the phone, horrible!

They're queuing outside the Apple store on Regent Street. Tools. Having said all that, I had a play with an iPod Touch last night and it was lovely; definitely going to buy myself one for Christmas.

I never personally agreed with the sale-tactic for the I-Phone, but since O2 are the only sellers of thing on a UK network i guess no one can really argue.

But it was lke some of this...

First you had to pay £270 to buy the phone
Then you have to sign into a new 18mth deal on a selected 18mth I-Phone tariff [£35, 45, 55]
After the 18mths has expired, you HAVE to stay on the O2 contract tariff for the I-Phone to work.

NOw maybe 18mth from now, people will have found a way to unlock the I-Phone again, but it seems that Apple are playing it clever with their devices.

If i was still working for O2, i would be really pissed with the time theyre releasing it - Its a guarantee that the call centre are going to get hammered, and since theyre only open til 8pm, for the release to be 2hr prior is going to be a nightmare!

Its a fucking scam and a rip off. The device is pretty nice but Apple are taking the piss with the pricing and the restrictions.

I doubt Apple are going to change their long standing business model any day soon.

I'd not be THAT fussed if the iPhone was actually that good. But it isn't.

I'd have one.

If it could run TomTom (which it can't)
If it could send MMS messages (which it can't)
If it had a decent camera (which it doesn't)
If it had an easily replaceable battery (which it doesn't)
If it wasn't going to get scratched to buggery (which it will)
If it didn't require Ishit software creeping around my PC (which it does)
If it didn't make me look gay (which is difficult but definite)

My cousin and brother in law picked up a 16gb ipod touch in the US. Worked out about £100 cheaper. Anyone you know going stateside soon? It really is very nice, just a shame the storage is soo limited.

On the phone front, I got my k850i last week, it is lush.

Don't they have to unlock phones from the network in UK? Since theres a shit load of iphones on ebay that are unlocked for all networks. Whats the deal? As I know in US they'd bricked a load of iphones for unlocking, but people managed to get round it.

Are they allowed to brick them here?

Got myself an N95, except for the battery life being bloody awful its a pretty nice phone, does most of what the I-phone does without the bloatware, has a better camera (5 mega pixel) and has GPS.

What's the significance of 6.02PM anyway?

I remember this being brought up...

Cant remember but off the top of my head, im fairly certain it was the time that O2 broke away from BT-Cellnet to become its own seperate company

Either that or they thought "Ah you know, we're O2 so maybe we should make the minute of release 2 minutes past *specific hour*

I've got an N95 as well, nice UI, feels well-made but the battery life is worse than bloody awful, it seriously affects its usefulness as a phone tbh. I also hate the button layout on the top panel, its horrible. TBH modern phones are making me feel like a luddite for the first time in my life; just too much pointless functionality that does a half-arsed job compared to its standalone equivalent; not quite good enough cameras, music players, web browsers, PDAs etc. etc. They're just all too compromised, mainly because battery technology just isn't up to the task of making all that shit useable.

Ive had my Nokia N95 about 6months now, i have to say i really dont like this phone. Firstly, i always prefer to have my phone protected by a case, while i have never dropped any of my previous phones i have lost count of the times i have fumbled my N95.

When i checked to see what cases where available, i was astounded to notice that there wasnt any decent ones, whether it was off the Nokia website, or Ebay. I had to make-do with some crystal casing, but the bottom of the casing keeps breaking off after a few weeks [You have to order loads and replace them on a weekly basis!]

The radio on loudspeaker is absolutely pap - especially compared to my old Sony Ericsson's, but even on full volume on the N95 its very difficult to hear if youre in the shower for instance.

When youre texting, you almost guarantee yourself accidentally closing down the text, because the backspace button is so close to the hangup/return to main menu button.

When i next upgrade, im not going to be able too because i would lose the staff discount i have applied to my account [bastards] - I will have to buy my phone from a third party place, but whatever the case is - At the end of it all i will definately be going back to a Sony Ericcson!

I got one of those. But the fuckers at the shops decided not to tell me this was the first generation of iPods that couldn't be run on Win2k. Took the fucker back - I'm not getting XP just to move some .mp3s to a device.

Yeah that's what I was talking about. I've cancelled texts loads of times, especially if texting in bad light. Its shit.
