ring the police, but try not to get interviewed else you'll get even less sleep.

Goes to show they are as effective as a chocolate fireguard :)

I wonder if anyone calls the police when they hear a house or car alarm go off or do they just get annoyed by the ringing.

In a previous life I used to fit alarms. They generally have a 20 minute cut out time for the main alarm. You will probably find this one is B&Q's finest home self install.

True with car alarms too :D

Most people just go "awww for f*cks sake..." and go about their business, maybe check who's car it is and then go drop poo down their mailbox.

If you want an effective alarm, get a rottweiler on the backseat.

Hit up your local work shy twats (council) with a noise complaint. Unless you like the neighbours. My rents have a key with a neighbour as you can get serious fines if someone complains after a certain period of time.

Its not the police you need to ring its your local councils noise nuisance hotline.

Directgov: Report a noise nuisance

We have had noisy neighbours playing really loud music and phoned the local council (There is a 24 hour number usually) and they sent someone around to have a word.

If they keep making the noise they could have the source of the noise confiscated eg the car, the Hifi etc...

Ah, but there's a catch. If you call the council/environmental health etc about a neighbour, you have to reveal that in your survey/HIP if you ever sell up.

That's an evil catch! Would stop me reporting someone most likely.
