Interesting moral decision (zombies)

We were discussing this while shooting some deadheads in L4D2;

Imagine this is a 100% real situation.

You're out and about in zombie apocalypse.

You're with your closest, dearest, most loved person in the whole world(son, mother, lover, whatever).

You get in a little fight with ze deadheads.

Your loved one gets bit.

You know what's going to happen, sooner or later, they'll turn. There is NO cure.

What do you do? (options in poll coming)

Leave them same as if i got bit i would walk away from any friends or family i was traveling with. Thats assuming they don't just double tap me

Ok, its a trick question. Anyone that posts on FH knows their most loved thing in all the world is their computer, which is by design quite zombie-afflictionproof.

Just to muddy it a bit, who is to say that the bitee wouldn't realise they were potentially about to get toasted and blow your brains out first, being that ungrateful recipient of all that love and affection and toffee apples. Are toffee apples important to zombies? Aren't they to everyone? I bet most victims of the zombie apocalypse got it all wrong, holing up in supermarkets with light automatic weapons. All they needed were a few tonnes of toffee and an orchard.

Well ok to answer the question properly: you're effectively talking about a variation on euthanasia, just in this case one where the soon-to-be dead person is likely to take someone down with them. Is it morally right to end someone's life prematurely.

Fuck yeh. Hose that deadhead with hot lead and wipe down with a cool one-liner. Protect the species, save the human race. Toffee apples for all!

I was just thinking about zombies.

I'd personally leave them to their own means too, given that i'd shoot them if they tried something funny.

Oh and, yeah, i guess the same could be asked the other way around, would you shoot your friends if you got bit to survive a bit longer

I dont know if I could do the whole shooty bit, but equally I dont think I could just leave them to it either.

Probably either keep them around until they started to turn, seeing if there was some way to reverse it, or if push came to shove, do them then probably do myself right after!
