Whats the longest period of time youve gone without sleeping at all, and what side effects did you suffer?

I missed two nights, wouldnt recommend driving put it that way... :(

Most I've been up is four days and four nights without any sleep.

Started to hallucinate, see white flashes of light everytime I turned my head, etc.

Looked like shit, huge black bags under my eyes and skin was really off colour.

Finally just kinda fell unconcious on a mate's bed whilst talking to them.

iirc I once was up for nearly three days. the true power of coffee and ciggys became evident around day two. around day three I was majorly fuxored. slept for a day and a half after.

ive just finished nigh-on 5 weeks of 12hr nights, 3 days off in total, with about 3-4 hrs kip in between shifts. (kids and shiftwork dont mix)

I would heartily recommend it .

Are we talking with or without chemicals?

And you know I don't mean coffee.

I think I've hit 5 days. You can cause permenant brain damage if you don't sleep for too long.

And I've worked up some pretty major sleep debts in my time. Two hours a night for two weeks is worse than staying awake for four days.

I went 5 days & nights without sleep back when I was in my mid 20's. But it was chemically induced. Well a few of us got a great deal on large quantity of speed and it was the weekend of the Nottinghill Carnival. One of my mates lived in a flat on the top floor of a huge house on Ladbroke Grove and we spent the entire 5 days partying on the roof off our tits on a "lethal cocktail of drink & drugs", was great :) Only real side effects we noticed from the sleep deprivation were constant dancing and giggling, an apparently unlimited capacity to drink alcohol and an overriding urge to talk crap incessantly.

On second thoughts maybe it wasn't the sleep deprivation doing that?

strange that :) I found I could smoke endless quantities of weed during a similar experiment ;)

Heh, I did an experiment entitled "working in a Post Office on acid". It was...interesting.;)

I've worked in a large chemlab on nightshifts. I had a flashback walking through an automated assembly thingy once: the lights all turned purple and the floor rippled.

On the third day i wrapped my car round a tree, tbh i think driving when tired can be more dangerous than drink driving :(

Last time I went without sleep was from 6am Friday til 9pm Saturday, I stayed at my girlfriends the night before and didn't bother sleeping. I was hyper as fuck until I fell asleep on the sofa at 9pm :)

On the flipside, I've slept for some insane amounts of time. Only being awake about 6-8 hours a day and such. Really fucks you up I've found.

But then I thought, 'No that's nasty, he can't help it. He's just caught a nasty dose of gratuitous post count uppage.'

It could happen to anyone.

After sitting in a reception at the doctors earlier and reading a leaflet on the effects of various drugs, I think I might become a junkie. Oh yes!

Doing a first year biology exam after one bucket was interesting. Rather strangely I got an A. I was pretty straight by the end though, just took me a while to get started. And genetics is pretty easy.;)

I was supposed to be stacking frozen turkey burgers into piles of 4 as they came down the conveyor belt, ready for the packing machine. For about an hour I was just picking them up, looking at them for a bit and then putting them down again.

Great :D

mmm in the same chemlab I endured endless weeks of having to press exactly one button every hour or so. one day I forgot.

man I've never seen so many angry people together in one room since I opened a drum of HCL while the lads still had their masks off. eep :eek6:
