input gain into my sound card ?

I just dusted off my old records, took my old dual turntable & Nad 3020b amp and set them up for ripping my vinyl collection (hogs heaven...at last ).

Thing is, the output from the back of my amp (aux) is giving me no measurable input into my computer, at least nothing I can hear...but if I run a headphone jack from the front of the amp...turn up the volume knob a quarter...I get plenty signal.

I'd much rather use the really high quality connectors for the auxilary, than the poopy headphone jack....

so what is it ? is the output from the amp aux too low for my pcs input ?

Which output are you using? You should be using the tape out sockets.

I'm sure you know that a phono cartridge output is in the order of a few thousandths (or millionths if its an MC cartridge) of the standard output of a CD player or tape deck. Your aux (are you sure its an output?) is probably acting as a pass-through socket.

Yeah, it doesn't sound right...I tried both the aux and the tape in and outputs. I appreciate the output from the needle (MC, iirc) is pathetic...thats largely why I got the amp out.

Dont think I'll be selling my stuff, tho. Theres just something so nice about an album cover and the feeling of vinyl...PLUS it sounds rather bloody good if you have a nice setup (I can live with a lil fluff ). Currently have about 15 Gigs of music...cant wait to get some of my 60s and 70s psychedelia ripped.

its a bit larger than my Linn classik...also, I dont have any record cleaning gear...I had to ad lib using monitor cleaning spray and tissue

Still, its nice listening to those ripped mp3s
