:( You make me sad panda.
Average Tarantino self blowjob using non-english to impress his deluded audience that he's somehow relevant, intereresting or artistic.

Was a decent flick but nothing remotely special.

theres a lot of words in that article to say nothing more than 'Tarantino likes simulated violence, i'm not sure that's right.'

Not seen the new one yet, looking forward to it when i get the chance though

I'm not actually a big fan of tarantino these days tbh. Kill bill 1 was a good action flick but kill bill 2 was so full of deluded guff, I mean where did that speech about superman's costume come from. Everything else of his only seems to be any good if he teams up with Rodriguez (spelling?).
But this film really was good imo, some good characters and dialogue.

We're not going back to the "it wasn't what I was expecting therefore it's rubbish" arguement like in the terminator salvation thread are we?

Everyone loves to jump on the bandwagon when it comes to slating Tarantino. He makes films he would like to see. He can afford to do this because people like how he makes/directs films. I loved the scene where the farmer finally gives in and tells Hans Landa where the jews are hiding. I thought that scene was shot perfectly.

I like how characters have an almost Comic book style introduction. Guy Richie used this to good effect in Snatch. It enables him to say "this guy is bad ass, he once did <part of a random event>. You then find out later what he did and it makes for great viewing.

It's like critics use him as a trump card for easy articles. "I know what boss, lets say Tarantino is up to his old tricks again and where did it all go wrong?".

It's almost as if the critics want films to contain A, B, C and must be shot in 1, 2, 3. When Tarantino does not do this their heads can't understand why he'd deviate.

I think Tarantino is a twat, and thought Kill Bill was utter tripe.

However, I will go to see this with a fresh mind; I am looking forward to it.

I thought Terminator Salvation was excellent, really enjoyed it, in fact I thought it was the best one.

Totally agree, Kill Bill was god awful....both of them but I really want to see Basterds.

I said it was a decent film, I didn't say I didnt enjoy it, that it was bad/shit/etc.

He has a good point although anything longer than one paragraph was unecessary.

No.

No.

don't like tarantino, won't be going to see it.

It's better than most of the crap out , worth watching once.

It's not a bad film per se it's just that early Tarantino showed glimpses of genius and it's just a let down that he just makes average decent movies rather than OMGWTFBBQ movies that he should be capable of :(

tarantino makes me so angry though, i couldn't sit through it. there were billboards for it EVERYWHERE in oslo, i wanted to rip each one of them down.

i really intensely dislike tarantino. i think reservoir dogs is brilliant but otherwise i just can't stand his style. i recently re-watched the episode of ER he directed, it was awful. but then i pretty much hate the "quick" style of directing/editing in films unless used very sparsely

Oh my God. What a pile of shite. Only plus points, he pinched a bit of music from Kelly's Heroes and Mélanie Laurent is a fox. Hugely disappointed otherwise, self-indulgent tripe.

Thought it was decent, but nothing really special. Had some good moments, good characters and decent lines, but there just seemed to be a bit too much dragging along at times. It was fairly long, but it felt far longer than it really was even. Worth watching, but don't think it's one I'll be re-watching any time soon.

Saw it on release day.
Loved the start of the movie.
I thought it was good, top 5 of the ones I've seen this year.
Will watch again, probably once more.

Not seen Inglorious Basterds yet though I'm looking forward to it. Its not a top priority.

I've enjoyed all the Tarantino films to date though I will admit I got bored of Deathproof after about 10 minutes and haven't got around to watching the rest of it yet.

I think Ben Elton does a nice sideswipe at directors like Tarantino and Oliver Stone in Popcorn. There is generally a high level of violence masquerading as art or desperately trying to self justify when as pointed out several times its rather empty and soulless. Fun, but not exactly deep and through provoking.

Its interesting that Tarantino causes people to argue about expecting more from him when mostly you see 90 minutes of mindless action from many other directors without question.

I just thought it was five scenes in search of a film. And the film they were searching for was a western. Now there's nothing wrong with WWII films masquerading as westerns; Kelly's Heroes does just that, but manages to be a great film without layering on weird jewish wish-fulfilment. I know its supposed to be a fantasy, but apart from the opening caption, it doesn't own up to that, which makes subsequent events...well...fucking silly.

I actually got around to watching this some time ago but didn't really think to yell in the house.

The opening scene is amazing. Proper threat, direction and acting - Not just Christoph Waltz who arguably carries the film, but the chap that plays the French farmhand. I've not often seen a bad guy hold my attention and scare me by being... nice. Everyone wants to be Peter Cushing. Most end up being Peter Kay.

And then its a gentle slog downhill from there. I find it ironic Tarantino is a victim of what he himself sets up, but then, irony is not a comfortable place for US natives.

Entertaining film, not great. For quality, watch the opening scene and then snog your girlfriend/wife/FH-Offtopic-Pet-Of-Choice for a while.

I thought it was great up until the final scenes when I thought not a lot had actually happened in the film. I loved the style and the humour though.
