I wonder if the upgrade for female valks will be something cool. They're kinda cool as they are now - seeing as the male valks are turned from Disney to LotR Extras. :)

So i'm sure u recognised Legolas in the background of the Female Elf screenie :D

imo .. OMG, they done a sweet job on these player models.

If they are anything to go by, the dungeons will look very tasty indeed

Aslong as Catacombs doesn't fuck up the game the way ToA did, I couldn't care less.

You mean the way the Dark Elves run? Ass way up in the air and face nearly dragging over the ground? First time I saw a bunch of em do that, I nearly fell of my chair laughing.. man, that looks silly.

I've played Lineage 2 for a bit, and to be honest, beyond the 14-year-old-hormone-driven target audience, the game has noting that other MMORPGs don't alrealy have better. I don't expect it'll do very well in Europe, once people realise that behind the facade of jiggle pixels there's actually no game. :)

I hope they make firbys alot more savage, i love the warcraft firbys as they are big bear type things.

Aren't they fUrbolgs? I mean.. Firbolgs are supposed to be men. Greek men to be exact. Men who were adept at making bags. Read that celtic shoit to get more info :touch:

The Firbolg people are primordial inhabitants, or early gods, of Ireland. The third wave of invaders, they conquered Ireland and defeated the Fomorians. The name can be translated as 'Men of the Bags'. They were conquered and driven into the Western Islands by the Tuatha De Danann. The Firbolgs became the first Fairies of Ireland, Giant-like, grotesque creatures. They and the Tuatha De Danann may be compared with the Titans and the Olynpic gods of Greece. They settled in Ireland, fleeing Greece where they had been enslaved and made to carry earth in bags. They afterwards made ships out of these bags and sailed to Spain. They held Ireland after the death of Nemed until the coming of the Tuatha de Danaan.

Other versions of the myths say the firbolgs were driven into the caves under ireland and became hunched of back due to the trogloditic existance.

The Fir Bolg were men, at least as far as mythology goes, folklore is a different matter. The came from Greece, where they were slaves, forced to carry earth/soil in bags. Thus Fir = man, Bolg = bag
They didnt defeat the fomor, infact they lived under their rule and paid a poll tax to them.
When the Tuatha deDannan/Sidhe arrived (or elves as DaoC has them) they did war with the Sidhe but were defeated at the first battle of Mag Tuiread. The Sidhe then went onto war with the Fomor and defeated them and their king Balor at the second battle of Mag Tuiread. The Sidhe eventually were defeated by the Sons of Mil (celts) when they invaded.

DaoC suffers from the same problem alot of 'modern' interpretations of Irish mythology suffer from, namely that of mixing mythology and folklore.
For example Finn of the fianna is a man in mythology, leader of a great warband with a complete cycle of literature that heavily influences the later largely artificial Victorian Arthurian legends, however Finn is a friendly giant in folklore with amusing stories told to children at bedtime.

The Parths in DaoC are pure Irish folklore, in mythology they were one of the first races in Ireland, preceeding the FirBolg and Sidhe.
