I played looooooong ago from beta up until around toa introduction and then borrowing friends acc here and there to have a quick play from then.

i have work and gf duties so i will only get maybe 5-10 hours a week online max so would just like some info on how easy it would be to get a roughly acceptable rvr char set up and ready to go.

i know ill get moaned at but i really dont have to time or ability to join a rvr group and such and as i'll play for fun, i'll most likely be classed as an "adder" etc. But i wouldnt mind now i have proper income etc and know wen im about i would like to maybe get back into the odd ganking session.

Shouldn't really take that long.. all depends on how far you wanna go obviously. ml1-10 could take a while because you need the right raids, but get group steps done and you're already come a long way. Then there's template, where you can settle for a low budget one, that clearly wont be as good as a high end template, so it depends how much energy and money you want to put into it.´
Other factors are how much help you're gonna get from guildies, friends etc, who can help you get scrolls, credits, artifacts etc etc. If you have the cash or the patience to farm scrolls, it wont take you long to make a decent template.

There are a few things in ToA that are essential to get. However most stuff although nice to have will only improve your character very slightly. Now although this is important when you are talking about very close/long fights generally this isn't the case especially as you aren't going to be taking part in the opted 8v8 combat.

I can't really comment on your SB but your runemaster shouldn't take long to ToA up at all.

Although very useful a runemaster can survive without being fully master leveled. You will miss brittle guards but most of the other abilities somebody else will have.

The most important ToA bonus for a caster is casting speed. The 10% bonus is not hard to get and a couple of quests + traldor's oracle which you can solo/duo can get you that. Although dex overcap gives you a faster casting speed having only +80-90 in dex is no disaster especially as you have a few rr to put into aug dex. People will have a faster casting speed than you but it shouldn't be too noticable.

The only other thing that I find insanely useful is having ceremonial bracer. This can be farmed with a summon sm very easily and you should be able to buy one fairly cheaply(a couple of plats). The scrolls drop from blue/yellow/orange con mobs so you should be able to farm them solo. You can also sell them easily for a bit of cash if you farm an extra one.

Not everybody has a perfect template and if you don't believe me look here a few people with fairly high rr wearing rubbish

yeah i was in TU a loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong time ago when they merged with illuminate at the start of retail.

i wouldn't do ML's probably because as i cant give that much time in 1 go so the ML's could be slowly done but mainly its just getting some toa stuff for probably a hunter as i will be solo majority of time.

my chars were deleted so they dont actually exist but i would remake them when i get the chance as i miss playing mystik solo and dieing lots

p.s. tao is a knobend tho u are true i probably would need jesus to help me but you know wot my chars were like, that didnt stop me


oooh and also, is catacombs needed that much?? most people who remember me know my dislike for lots of pve so if i can do without it i wont go out and buy it.

Catacombs is probably the easiest way to get from lvl 1-50 if you don't have alot of friends to help you, so just for that I would buy it if I were you. But it's definately not needed at lvl 50.

You could, but the artifacts are none tradeable and I got 8 of them on me so not much left to steal

Howdi mate!

Well with a rm it would take a minimum of effort and time to get a workable rvr char. You will just have to get the following up: castingspeed 10%, dexcap 20+, pietycap 20+, hpcap80+, max out: dex, piety, con, hp, all resists but 2 (either matter/spirit or matter/energy can be dropped) and get a decent powerpool%. This kind of template would go for about 2-3 plats. And would take about 1-2 days to get together if someone helps you with sc on 99% armour.

To get it up 1 notch in powerfulness would also take a minimum effort if you still have a couple of friends around in the game. (solo it might be harder though). That would be getting the following easy/cheap artis into the above template to boost it abit: Tartaros, Gem of lost memories.

To boost it even abit more would also be very easy with just a little help of friends:
Ceremonial bracer, Niahlas robe (or how ever that is spelled)

For some more seriousness into the template for it to get abit more uber:
Guard of Valor, Cloudsong/feather wrap, Maddening Scalars, Jasinas sash

And for the final touches to enter the last stages of the template:
Immolated Ring, Erenis Charm (or however that is spelled)/atlantis tablet, and or phoebes harp. + Master Piece SCed armour.

Basically for the 2 first stages it doesnt take more than a guild/alliance that you have joiend and or a friend or 2 that helps you out for half an hour to get. And that is enough to actually be able to play on a pretty high level as RM. The levels after that are more eye candy and bonustracks it makes you better but isnt necessary for you to be on decently even ground with most.

Send me a pm if you want and ill look at a couple of easy to make templates for ya that you can get started on. And if you decide to come back ill even help ya with the sc if you contact me and tell me whats it about!

its that easy now? wow, when i did my runie i didnt get any of that (9% casting speed and +5 piety i think? ) and cost me a fortune and took ages, maybe im just a gimp though

Its not that easy to go out and make a specific template. And cost is relative, however with access to a ML9 summ sm that ALOT of people now have so many useful artis get farmed regularly that the price has come right down.

However if you have been ToAing alts and going on alot of raids you will have probably picked up a bunch of reasonable drops.

If you get just 2 arti's Traldors and CB. You can get a kroj dex to give you 11 dex cap. BRS, EHB for utility. Lots of nice cloaks and belts around hopefully you can get a couple with 2% casting speed on. You can use sun sorched helm or some MP drop from battler, SoM, GoV, CS, EC etc Once you got that its fairly easy to cap all the important stuff if you have 4 pieces of cloth to SC.

I got a decent but very cheap template for my sm shortly after I got ToA. It didn't cost very much as I had a guildie or two helping me when I needed but if I got everything off the CM that I couldn't solo (without a bb) then it would have cost me a little over 7plat.

When you are going for really cheap templates its best to look whats avaliable first and then build a template around those things.
