Yup, been suffering with this crap all week and it's likely to stay for a while, as I won't reach for the chalk pills or be bored by the GP on why I shouldn't be taking antibiotics but he'll prescribe them anyway. I hear there's lot of people been going down with flu as there seems to be some early winter epidemic of it.

So, I've been looking up some food remedies instead to alleviate the symptoms a bit and I found this, which actually turned out to be rather nice - if a little odd. But it is quite tasty.

1 Clove of garlic finely chopped.
1 Pinch or so of thyme.
Half a lemon.
Some honey, well just go with what you think is sensible on this as some people have more of a sweet tooth than others.

Put this lot into your normal ugly old mug and then add hot water and voila, quite a tasty flu remedy type drink thang :)

Dose yourself up with paracetamol & drink lots of water & chicken soup
Apart from that there's nothing much you can do. Just gotta let nature take its course and ride the lightning. Plenty of rest and no booze. In a week you'll be beating your servant with a stick like the rest of us.

1 pill of multivitamin extra strong, and 1 of Vitamin C extra strong per day, and a nice cup of hot tea or soup until it's over. Works better if you feel it coming but aren't yet fully ill, but works decent enough aswell as a cure. Doesn't kill the virus obviously, but gives your body a bit more ammo to fight it :)

I wouldn't be so sure about that, I did read up on what the ingredients were likely to achieve. Ok I spent the rest of yesterday in bed, but I did try only the one drink so far, and I already feel much better :)

70cl vodka,
2x 454g of the lightest honey (no honesycomb inside) you can find
1 pint water
1/2 lemon
vanilla pod/vanilla extract

Take the pint of water and pour it into a pan, cook it up until it's just before the bubbling level. When it hits this point, pour in all of the honey while continually stir for 10-15minutes until it has all mixed in properly (be sure to keep it just before the boiling point... i.e. no big bubbles)

Then cut a lemon in half and squeeze it in. If you've decided to buy vanilla extract instead , pour that in at this time, then keep on the heat for a further 3-5 minutes while stirring.

Turn off the heat (VERY IMPORTANT!), pour all of the vodka in and stir for the next 5 minutes.

I know it's a bit of hassle, especially when you're ill but it's one of my own concoctions if you can call it that and it's absolutely amazing for sorting out a cold/the flu.

Drink it while it's warm (not hot) for the best effect but it's still awesome at room temperature.

If you bottle it up, cut the vanilla pod length ways and stick a part in each bottle.

So long as you keep to those ratios, having tried it with different ones before, that's the one with which you will get a tiny tiny hint of vodka but other then that, it'll just taste like extremely easy to drink honey with added 'awesome'. To put it insto perspective, I can't even smell vodka without lurching anymore, that's how little this concoction will taste of it...

Added to this, go to sleep when you feel tired and get up and do stuff when you don't... your body should look after itself so long as it's properly rested... but this stuff helps it amazingly well.

edit:Also is a great gift for friends/family at christmas or just for a brilliant drink at around £5 per bottle :D

Vaccines 4tehwin so to speak.

Where i work gives everone around this time of year a free flu jab. Stops us getting sick, and im guessing makes them money as theres less people off sick.

To buy one its only around £15 in the UK. Which is way cheeper then all the prescriptions / flu remidy crap youll buy when you actualy get it.
