I'd recommend

AdAware
Spyware Doctor
AVG Control Centre

and a proper firewall.

ZoneAlarm isn't bad for the allowing certain programs internet access etc. since it can allow you to get to the root of a problem quite quickly.

Have you been looking at porn btw? ^^

At the risk of repeating something that's already been said, the "infection" is actually an anti-spyware program that behaves more like a virus than a "anti" anything. The popup is a fake message to lure you into buying the full product version. The reason it popped up again is because it reinstalls itself on boot due to some windows registry keys and dll's that stay loaded and rewrite the registry again if you remove the keys. Basically you have to reboot in safe mode and either manually or using tools remove both the reg keys and dlls.

You can read about all 3 versions of it, along with removal instructions at this adress: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/forum55.html

The different versions are called SpyAxe, SpyFalcon and SpywareStrike. They're basically the same all 3 only slightly different removal procedure. If you've already gotten rid of it then great but if you haven't, the method on that link works (my brother got spyfalcon a week or so ago and it worked for him).

Best free spyware remover:

Hitman Pro
Website: http://www.hitmanpro.nl/
Website is in dutch only but program is in dutch, english or german. Choose your favorite language on setup.

EDIT:
Only annoying bit about hitman pro is that it needs to be up front most of the time because it is actually a frontend for 4 programs scanning your system and it controls those programs, so run it at night orso or at dinnertime when you ain't using your pc ;)

That sounds like something I need. Whenever I try to run Norton full system scan my PC just shuts down half way through. I reckon the virus shuts the system down as soon as its detected. I need a virus scanner that controls programs like Hitmanpro. Any suggestions ?
