How do you setup individual desktop backgrounds on multiple monitors in vista? I'm sure in xp it was either on each screen's properties page or in nview options somewhere. I can't find anything at all in the new nvidia control panel and the 'personalization' bit in vista where the desktop properties was in xp is crap, letting me choose a picture, stretch/tile/center it, and that's about it.

I don't remember it being difficult. :(

Good communication, quick response, excellent Freddyshouser!

Why isn't it built into the OS or nvidia anymore though? It's a bit silly to have to get a 3rd party app to do something so simple. :(

Ultramon was always the daddy for multi-monitor stuff. My nVidia drivers never did that sort of stuff.

Nvidia's nView has the option built in. nView Desktop Manager -> Desktop - should be able to figure it out yourself.

Do you have Photoshop or something like it?

Easiest way is to hit print screen to put a copy of your whole desktop onto the clipboard.

Open photo editing suite and paste that image into it.

If you have monitors with the same resolutions then you'll just have 2 identical images side by side. If you're running different resolutions then you'll have big black areas too.

Now just resize the pictures you want on your desktop to fit the area covered by each monitor. Save the whole lot and choose it as your desktop.

If you don't have the software to do this then pm me and you can e-mail the images to me and I'll do it for you.

I'm liking UltraMon so far... BUT... when I use the smart taskbar to split the the taskbar between the two monitors, I use the standard mode so each taskbar only has the windows that are open on that screen. It always seems to get confused though, usually when I come out of a game or unlock the workstation (when it 'rebuilds' the desktop, for want of a better description). It's a sort of cross between the standard mode and the mirrored mode, with some windows being represented on both taskbars and some not. Then sometimes it won't let me click on the ones on the monitor that they're not on (if you see what I mean, this is taking much longer to explain that I thought it would :(). They just sit there until I turn the smart taskbar off then on again. Which is annoying.

Anyone had this problem? I'm usually the one to find the problems that no one else has had. :(
