*sigh*

well just done my history exam (woo) and because im all nice and organised i got there half an hour early, i need to do my exams on a laptop because when i broke my hand i now have trouble doing stuff, so i told the college this, they said who i should speak to so i did (last week) i got everything organised, gave them the dates and times of the exams etc etc, anyhoo get there today and no one knows anything about it.

Why can't people be organised??? is it really too much trouble to do things, write reminders to do things or get them done on time??

the tutor i spoke to last week wasnt there it took them half an hour to find me a sodding computor to use (has to have spell check taken off and be disabled from inet) then they had to find me a room to take the exam in and someone to watch over me... 09:45 i start my exam after being stressed to the limit by flipwits saying "oh no, its not my job" funniest thing was though just as i was going in to the room designated for my exam this guy from IT says oh yeah, Darren phoned me and told me about this on friday but with the weekend.... well you know

i felt like popping him one right in the eye and screaming NO I DONT SODDING KNOW BECAUSE I HAVE MORE THAN 11 BRAINCELLS SO TEND TO REMEMBER STUFF THATS LIKELY TO BE IMPORTANT TO OTHERS!! YOU GOD DAMNED PENIS!

I did say that i shall be taking my english exam same time tomorrow and will i have to go through all this again? But as it happened I did a tonne of revision so i kicked arse in that exam and am feeling pretty confident about it, however someone else might have been so shaken they'd have screwed it up mightily.

anyhoo to cut a long story short the end.

im off to eat cake and watch shreck 2

It wasn't his fault no one told him till friday afternoon, I wouldn't stay either, besides he may have had other things to do.

Well, i'll go with the: "People got other stuff to do then to try and organise your exam, the world doesn't revolve around you and your masturbation accident" answer :D

I know it might piss you off, evidently, but try to understand that people have a ton of work to do and maybe, just maybe, some things were more important.

And no, nobody should work off hours or weekends so that someone elses things get sorted.

considering its their job i dont see why they shouldnt of done it.

add to it that, afaik, ez pays for her education. she is paying for a service and that service should be of an acceptable quality.

sounds more to me like a breakdown in communication. happening regularly for me in uni and im getting mighty pissed off about it.

as seel said on the face of it you cant make comments on that as the fact of the matter is (just for illustrative purposes)

Network goes down vs set up pc for random student (to them its a random person)

they will fix the network first

As well as the fact that the lecturer wasnt around to get it sorted

you dont understand what its like when your busy with server issues etc, you finally get it done after 8 hours in a freezing room (if for some reason remote not working) and just about to leave some fuckwit goes "oh yeah we need a laptop ready for monday" very very frustrating

As a rule i tell people dont tell me a week in advance then gonna have problems. Seems to work just fine.

Still wrong attitude tho sorry to hear ez

random student, who pays for the education and depends on passing it for future life.

your right though, i cant say whats more important.

just to me though, someone paying for a service which they depend on deserves 10 mins of a techys time to get a pc going.
i have also worked as a techy so i know the shit you get, sometimes you just cant be arsed :)

Mate from scratch which most techies should do F8 all PCs takes longer than 10 mins.

Besides thats got nothing to do with us not our job, our is to keep the company with a network and working machines. Thats much more important. Fix a PC which can take a couple of hours depending what needs to go on it, or fix a downed server which is effecting half a building.

What you think is more important?

I.T Techs own..leave them alone!

Especially us poor sods who work in education. Last week one of my collegues was told that she needed to remove spellchecking from a lab for an exam the following day. bear in mind that our labs are very specialised and most software in centrally managed. I don't know the outcome, but she was advised to tell the professor to go shag himself soundly.

It's often suprising to students that their emergencies don't usually even count as minor tasks for us in the scale of things. I can sympathise with all the people saving their dissertations onto non backed up media, but i can also laugh at them behind their backs...

That and the fact there are probably at elast a dozen other students/staff at any one point in time who have just as urgent a problem. I can't speak for everyone on support (well on the whole i can) but you can't just drop everything for everyone who has a problem, and often the customers have no concept about priorities.

rofl there was nothing "techie" about it the tutor should have arranged it, all they had to do was find a pc for me to use a room to use it in and someone to invigilate, i have my own lap top but your not allowed to use personal equipment incase you have data stored on there which would bias your results.

as for the "the world doesnt revolve around you" attitude well i never said that however when it is something that can only be organised by the tutor and i told them 2 weeks in advance of my needs and spent ages chasing people and making phone calls etc to make sure it was all organised then they leave it till the weekend before my exam well thats a bit shit tbh as tris said i pay for my education so its not like im moaning about free stuff.

any hoo got there today and they had a laptop, room and person for me tbh everyone involved said it was sheer sloppyness on the part of the college so if theyre not defending themselves and admit it was their fault i dont see why you lot should all take offence.

*squints*

there you go bahu thanks for the brain power dude it came in reet handy when i had to walk and chew gum at the same time for question 7 :D

all exams are over now till June woohoo!!
