Sorry but old, was a cert during the last game, the announcement although hours old was a sure thing for the past few weeks. He'll come good in a few years, just that now wasn't his time :)

Jumping 3 leagues from first to second jobs was a bit of a stretch tbh. Annoys me that all these ex-players seem to drop in straight at Prem level in management like just because they could play at that level they can manage at that level.

More experience at lower levels first, then better transition into the "holy grail" jobs

Will be big sam or curbs, no one else will want to take a job on with zero funds to spend and playing infront of tiny crowds.

Heh, seems rather odd though given that at one time it was Blackburn with all the money to burn and buy the prem in the old days hehe xD

It was an initial 3.6 million GBP and at the time, in 1992 a new record for British football.

Ince was crap and well out of his depth. At least Keane had to grace to know it himself.

It was the best part of 20 years ago. It was HUGE money at the time. So I guess you are just stupid.

Yeah, it was mega bucks. If you bother to check the prices of transfers in the same period you will see that. The Premier League was not as rich as it was now.

Well as a Blackburn fan i kinda knew it was between fat sam and souness, i would have prefered souness i think because of what he did when he was at rovers before, got us back in the prem, won the carling cup, finished 6th. However the relationship he had with Dunny made him leave, which I would hate to see my hero go again :) I think the Blackburn board are being sensible, picking someone who may play boring but keep us in the prem. Sam will have cash to splash in January which should help. I dont think it was right to let ince go after 6months, but take a risk for another 1 month and it may cost you alot if you go down. The signings he brought in where imo laughable, division 2 players and if anything i think it brought squad morale down, (tho thats just my opinion and i have no evidence). People say they dont give young managers enough time, but how much can you give them before theres a safe-cut off point. I think Ince has had his chance, Won 3 in 17 games says it all.

wikipedia says
Despite making just one goalless appearance as England failed to progress past the Euro 1992 group stages that summer,[10] Shearer was soon subject to a British transfer record-breaking £3.3million bid from Blackburn Rovers.[11] Although there was also interest from Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson, Blackburn benefactor Jack Walker's millions were enough to prise the striker from the Saints, and Shearer moved north to Ewood Park in the summer of 1992.[12]

1992 and 3.3 mil! what a bargain eh? :)

but then peter schmeichel only cost £530k in 1991, imagine what a keeper like that would cost now these days? :D

infact it was a few years till transfer fees became ridiculous, Andy Coles to Man Utd probably being the first.
