The P4 and motherboard and half the Ram is for an upgrade to the wifes PC (she currently has a 2 gig p4 in a 4x AGP board that only takes RAMBUS Ram :( early adoption sometimes sucks)

The other stuff is for a spangly new job for me.

Any criticisms, alternatives LOL's etc would be appreciated.

Get a Zalman quiet PSU, will make a nice difference to the noise. Perhaps consider water cooling to make the whole thing silent (the gfx fan will make a fair old din).

Look's ok although some recommendations:

- I wouldn't normally recommend socket 939 at the mo, as you get better price/performance on 754 (plus the real feature for 939, PCI-E, isn't out yet)
- Nforce Mobo's tend to be better, particularly if you're getting an nVidia card (on chip ethernet is nice)
- The hard drive is very expensive! I bought a 160Gb IBM SATA for only a tenner more! It was OEM mind, but that makes no real difference (no box, cable, etc)
- That PSU is too cheap for 520W, and I've never heard of them! Can't recommend Antec PSU's enough, the Zalman is nice but shuts down if it gets too hot, whilst on the Antec's the fans just spin up. Always get a quality PSU, as if the PSU blows it tends to take most of the other components with it. Also you prob only need about 350-400W
- No need to get a 12x burner, it's not an official spec, so no 12x media (only 16x)
- Logictech 2.1 speakers are good for only a tenner or so more
- Throughly recommend the Medusa headset, it's 5.1 with a mic and cheaper than the senheisers, although I don't think ebuyer stock them
- For about £70 more you can get a good 19" 16ms gaming TFT (e.g. phillips) tho they tend to be analogue only

Thanks for the replies so far, will take onboard the points made.
Will definitely look into a different PSU and have a look at an nForce Mobo, also will look to an 8 or 4x dvd writer as I really don't do much burning, just trying to future proof as much as I can :)
